TurboTax is reliable and thorough

TurboTax handled most of my issues very well, and delivered an excellent result. It approached all my issues and dealt with them appropriately, with one exception, regarding changing the amount of an appreciated deduction without warning me.

okay tax prep

Have used turbo tax for years. But this year's taxes were more complex. I sold my home and turbo tax did not complete a Schedule D or 8949 form. The only reason it did not was because I checked the box "no" did not receive a 1099S for the sale. Turbo tax comes back and says great, you did not have any gains and not necessary to report. Well IRS sent me a letter indicating that I failed to report the gain on the sale of my home. IRS received the 1099S. No matter what you must file a schedule D and 8949 form. Turbo tax should update their programming accordingly whether you have a 1099S or not.

Great until the end. Electronic filing needs work

Turbo Tax is great until it is time to file electronically and then it identifies issues that must be resolved. This is after elections to file electronically have been made and payments made. Then it identifies obstacles to filing. These should be resolved before going through the entire electronic filing issues.
