This was the first time after the passed few years(2017) that I bypassed your step by step and went to the forms and filled in the required information. But it may have been that instead of purchasing the actual disk I purchase it online and download it. Ran into all kind of problems.

I have used Turbo Tax for several years and it takes the fear out of making costly errors and has helpful hints, explanations, definitions and all the things a non-tax expert report their taxes

This year's edition is great but believe last year's was better. It used to give option of Tax Form to file....i.e. EZ...which is a great feature when filing for the whole family.

Not as good as recent years

Filing my taxes is often a stressful event. I always want to make sure it goes well and smoothly. As someone who is not a CPA or tax expert, however, I found this year's software/program to be less helpful when it comes to having a pop-up link ("What's this?" or "What does this mean?") to explain certain terms, forms, etc. For instance, at the end of my tax-filing endeavor this year, I did my usual "search for errors" and the program came up with "We found an error!" I clicked "Fix error(s)" and it responded with "Entry required for Sch SE-T Line 18 Max deferral" or something to that effect. My immediate desire was to destroy everything in sight like an ape who's been pushed past his limits of frustration. I remember distinctly yelling at my computer "WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN, AND HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHAT THAT'S TALKING ABOUT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!" There was no explanation given at all for what it wanted me to enter into the field, and I found no easily navigable way to find the form it was even referring to. After I calmed down a tiny bit and took a few breaths, I went to the search function and typed in "Sch SE-T Line 18" And what came up were a bunch of FAQ's. The first 3 or 4 had nothing in common with what I had typed into the search bar... almost immediately another rageful tantrum of epic proportions started welling up inside of me at this point. Finally, after scrolling for a while, I found the answer to my question. Apparently the program had me skip this line rather than giving me the option of putting my desired entry of zero "0" in the field at the appropriate time! Not a huge deterrent of time, but an inconvenience I've never experienced before with TurboTax. Had I enacted a crime of passion and broken my wife's china in my turbulent tirade, I would have felt a compulsion to send you the bill! I jest, but seriously, pevious years (last year's program for example) has been much better and more helpful and navigable for me as a user. If it ain't broke....
