Another Year Done with My Favorite Tax Software

I have been using TurboTax for many years and have found it easy and straight forward. I have worked as a professional tax preparer and I prefer TurboTax to the "pro" software that I have used.

TurboTax is easy

I was pretty nervous about doing this, but it turned out I got it done in less than 24 hours. The only hiccups were installing the updates. That part was frustrating because I only have wi-fi not landline. That made it time out before downloaded. What finally made it work was the oddest thing. I hit "Cancel" when it said it needed to do it; then it must have reset something, because it downloaded fine then. ????

TurboTax is Great

I really like TTax - I've been using your program for more years than I can remember, but I know I originally printed out my taxes on a 9 pin dot matrix printer to give you an idea of how long I've used TurboTax. One recommendation I'd make is to carry over information from prior year's tax filing - I'm retired and each year I have to input data into my NJ income tax regarding my retirement plan that could easily be automatically entered from the prior year.

I did most of my taxes in Feb. I started to do the final review of the federal taxes and all the state taxes two days ago. First I was required to do an update of turbo tax. It hung is the startup mode for an hour. I tried to cancel it but it would not stop. I let it run for another hour. It never terminated. I finally rebooted the computer. This time when I tried to restart the update, I got a windows 1603 error. To fix that one can do a manual update so I downloaded the manual update but it failed probably because I had installed turbo tax on my D: drive not my C: drive. There was no way to tell the manual update to use the D:
drive so I decided to reinstall. I removed the application, downloaded and tried to install the application. It failed during the extraction on the third part of the extraction. I ended up having to install it on another computer because I could not find out why it was failing.

To add to the problem doing the state taxes, the system got stuck dealing with Mass. 1099-HC health insurance. I answered one of the first questions wrong but it got stuck in a loop on later questions with out going back to the beginning after going though the loop twice. After each loop, when to the end as if all was okay. When I checked it again, it failed. I finally when back to the beginning and did it over which allowed me to finish.
