I was under the impression that I would be able fill out and file the Federal and State form with the purchase of Turbotax Home and Business as I have in the past. this year I had to pay to file the State forms :(

Glitches in Procedure to Amend a Return

I have been using Turbo Tax Home and Business successfully for years, but I never had to use it to amend a return before. This year a got a corrected 1099 OID after I had filed, and the correction changed the income from non-taxable to taxable. I would have thought this correction was common enough that there would be a procedure to amend the return, but that procedure was not available. I was able to change the 1099 OID form in Turbo Tax, and it appeared to produce an amended return with good numbers except that it required that I reduce the amount of my refund applied to next year's taxes, and it also instructed me to pay additional taxes. If I do both, I will pay double to fix the corrected OID. I e-filed the return and gave the federal government my bank information so they could deduct a payment from my account, but I hope they reduce the amount applied to my 2021 taxes instead. This glitch also caused an error in my estimated tax payment schedule for 2021. Waiting to see what happens next. Disappointed with the glitches in the software.

The key thing I like about turbotax is that I can see the year over year comparison of category by category. It would be much better if I have an option to compare the current tax year against 2 years back as opposed to just one prior year. Tax situation changes and having 2 years back gives me much more confidence what I need to work on more or less and I would like to be able to see the trends over 3 years.

TurboTax is very reliable

I preferred TurboTax due to its reliability. Honestly, one thing should be fixed free state has to be free, not $25.00 charge at the end.
