Truthfully, I am having trouble with all the subtle swipes that replaced the back and home buttons on the Pixel 3 XL. I wish they would not have done that. I have not had it long enough to evaluate the camera or other features.If you are a person who has difficulty adjusting ingrained processes to new procedures, I would think twice before upgrading from a Pixel 3 XL to a Pixel 4a.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Coming from a Pixel 3 XL, the only difference I notice is the size. I feel my new device is slightly smaller and it bothers me sometimes. I don't feel like my device is so premium like I did with my 3 XL. You simply cannot beat the software and built in features like call screening. Best smartphone experience out of any android selection period. Also I did not like the fact I wasn't able to pick the white color at Tmobile. That also bothered me as I was looking forward to choosing a different color this time but that was not offered.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Wish I could get better hardware

After experiencing some glitches on the LG v40 decided to go back to pure android as I liked my pixel 1. Even with the highest trim model I could get with a headphone jack it was a sideways move hardware wise. Overall I opted for fewer software issues but less than top tier hardware but I wish I didn't have to and for you it's lost profit. Likely on the next cycle of phone purchasing I'll forget the frustration of the software issues and go back to another phone manufacturer because you still won't offer what I'm looking for - Pure android with best in class hardware and a headphone jack - as evidenced by my doing so the cycle prior to this. Phone is fine but that's it. It's good enough. Should another phone manufacturer make a flagship with these features - or in the unlikely event that apple re-adds a headphone port - I will take my business there.

Great phone, easy to use

Coming off a pixel 2, the 4a5g has some gestures that take getting used to. However, once you get the hang of it, they do make navigating the phone really easy. I especially like the back gesture rather than having to push a back button. Battery life is great and the camera quality is fantastic. I'm really happy that the headphone jack has returned, as this makes zoom conferencing way easier and ensures better audio quality. Super glad that everything is still usbc, as my old pixel gear will still work. Would have loved for Google to offer some kind of tough box case or something, as the phone is very thin and slippery. Nothing that an off brand 3rd party case couldn't solve. Happy overall, great 5g phone in an affordable price range.
