[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My new T490 is the latest in a long series of Thinkpad T models that I've owned. I've enjoyed them all; what I like best about the T series is the little Trackpoint stick controller in the middle of the keyboard. This protects me from having to use the Trackpad. I've never been able to master the latter because of an age-related peristent tremor.
Another great advantage of the T490 is that both its storage memory and operating membory is all solid state. It seems faster and is surely more durable than conventional hard drives.
The Thunderbolt and USB-C connectors keep up with the trend, but the doumentation regarding their use is deficient. The advertising makes great claims for them -- they can do everything -- but I haven't got any idea how to use them.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got the i5 with 16 GB of memory, and a 500 GB SSD drive. It's fast enough for my general use, lightweight, and the screen is excellent. I like the keyboard feel, sligtly "clicky." Battery life appears to be about as good as advertised, which is Great. I like how easy it is to update drivers and firmware from the Lenovo website.
(My previous Thinkpad was an old E420 so this is quite a step up. I've probably had six diff Thinkpads, including those issued by employers over the years.) Sometimes I wish it had the fingerprint login, but not a big deal.
Overall it's an excellent machine and the only two annoyances that come to mind are that the surface of the case shows greasy fingerprints that a less porous surface might not. And, you always have to use two hands to open it as the hinge is rather stiff. Maybe this will improve with use. I would recommend this to a friend.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my 5th Thinkpad laptop. Along with the 2 Lenovo desksides I have I believe this is the best yet. I was apprehensive about Windows 10 but the set up and the file transfer but this was EASY. The only surprise was with Windows 10, if you tie your Microsoft account to the system at setup the name your Admin user get is the 1st 5 digits of your email address. PIA but not a Lenovo issue, just a quirk of Windows 10. I easily got the system set up with the tutorial and it is SWEET. I love everything about the T490, great display, nice keyboard layout and feel, Lenovo Advantage lets you see what updates you need, .... It is a GREAT computer. It is replacing a T450 and is half the weight and has 2x the battery life, pretty impressive. Now I just have to figure out the nuances of Windows 10. I highly recommend this product if you are looking for a powerful, lightweight laptop. It will do everything you need for home and business.

Love my new Lenovo T490 laptop. An amazing upgrade to the bulky hp I had previously. Would recommend it to anyone in varying industries. Lightweight yet durable.
