[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got the T490 with 10th gen of CPU, which came with a 3-year warranty. The machine feels steady, opens fast, works great as expected. It is pretty light and easy to be carried around even though I don't need to right now due to the Covid. I am glad to choose this version since it has backlit keyboard (which can be switched on/off) so that it is convenient to work in a dark environment. My primary plan of using this machine is for study. Got the unit a few weeks ago. It should last long enough for my graduate program. One last thing, as other reviews mentioned already, the fan does give out a slight noise, but it seems not annoying to me so far.
The machine is fine, but Lenovo neither installed nor told me I needed to download the McAfee virus protection I paid for. So, shortly after setting the machine up, it was infected by a virus. I had to pay $95 to have it cleaned up. So, just be careful.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent PC for my needs. Wanted to segregate my personal usage from my work PC. Work PC is a Lenovo P52. I wasn’t willing to take a huge step backward in performance for my own things. The T490 was a great fit with my needs and standards based on P52.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This model is currently outdated model so it is relatively cheaper than x1 version. If you are just looking for a basic office use laptop, this will be the one.
I got the T490 recently during one of the ever-present sales. I specifically chose the T490 because they had the model with the 1440p HDR vision display in stock. I occasionally do photography work and having a 100% adobeRGB screen is important to me. The screen is impressive. I measured the color space with a colorimeter and it comes out at 99% of the AdobeRGB.
When I first received the laptop. It wouldn't power on at all. Fortunately tech support was easy to reach, and after a quick attempt at an emergency reset, authorized an RMA, which came a week later.
My only other issue is the trackpad. It's... ok. Pressing the bottom of it to click feels squishy and inconsistent.
There aren't many 14" laptops with wide color gamut screens. So if you need that, this laptop is definitely worth looking at.
