[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm glad I chose the t490 over the X1 Carbon, if only because the t490 is already pretty slimmed down. But your still getting that thinkpad reliability and all the ports and abilities it has plus some areas you can later change or customize if you wish. It feels solid, there's no give in the keyboard. The exterior feels nice, albeit easy to get dirty. Easily the best laptop I've ever owned.

It is a top quality product, as the the Think Pad has always been. I used a Think Pad in business for years and for quality and reliability they can't be beat. After several failed attempts with other brands I decided it was time to use my experience with the Think Pad it is everything that I remember, solid and reliable.

The display brightness is not good, even when turned up fully. There is a yellow cast to the screen, probably to extend battery life. Compare screen brightness before you buy.
