[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a X230 before and used for over 7 years already. I bought T490 because I'd like to have better hardware and also good coding experience. The laptop does hit my expectations and way better than other non-Thinkpad brands. It's fast, lightweight, and most important for me, has a great keyboard. I installed Fedora to for my working environment and all components are running perfectly under Fedora including the fingerprint reader, keyboard light etc..
If you are a computer engineer, I highly recommend this laptop!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall pretty satisfied. But when I opened the shipping box, I found the computer screen had a scratch on it. Not so great quality control Should not have shipped with a scratched screen. Now I need to take it in to get it replaced. Yes, under warranty, but still a pain. If the computer were used, I wouldn't care so much. But for a brand new computer to arrive with a scratched screen? Not good.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This laptop is VERY responsive and quick to load anything! It's also very sturdy... I have dropped this thing more than once, and believe me, I'm not worried about anything ever happening to this computer (as far as damage from accidents is concerned). It feels like it was constructed with durability in mind. Feels and is very durable! The only thing that aggravates me about this laptop is that OCCASIONALLY, the track-pad will malfunction (in the center, will not receive any input). I found that deleting the 'Synaptics Pointing Device' driver will correct the issue, however that is only a temporary solution as it still comes and goes as it pleases. Overall, I would, and did, rate this 5/5. Everything is basically perfect (I almost forgot, the battery life is AMAZING, will last all day for the typical user), just one minor software issue, which there is a workaround for, so I would totally 100% recommend this laptop to anybody!!
