The metal casing, detachable usb c connection are features that make this hub extremely hardy and versatile. I’ve been using it for work outdoors and it works despite the hard knocks and heavy usage.

Exactly what I wanted...

This is a very well-built (metal) hub. Unlike my prior hub, which would sometimes require unplugging the hub on the USB-c port of my Mac and replugging it several times to get the HDMI external monitor to work, this one works every time. It does get a little bit warm, but not as much as my prior one. It is able to charge my M1 MacBook Air even using the original 30W charger supplied by Apple. I was worried because the hub takes 15 W, but it still worked. I replaced my 30W Apple charger with a 65W Anker charger that has 3 ports, and can now charge the MacBook, my iPad and iPhone simultaneously. Excellent design, and the inclusion of the short cable inside the unit for remote use is really a differentiator. Great Product!

The long cord really helps

This gadget allows me to keep my desk, semi-organized, at least with regard to cords. Much handier than an earlier one I had that was closely tethered to the computer.

LOVE the Twelve South StayGo USB-C Hub! It's PERFECT for External Hard Drives

I purchased a WD 6TB My Book Desktop External Hard Drive to use with my MacBook Pro. My MacBook only has 2 USB-C ports, once of which is needed to power my MacBook. I purchased a cheap Multiport USB C Adapter so I could connect my hard drive to my laptop. Unfortunately, it is easily knocked loose. This is NOT what you want to happen when you have an external hard drive plugged in. Plus, the StayGo USB-C Hub has a dedicated pass-through power port which you can plug your power cable into instead of wasting one of your USB-C ports on your laptop.
