the only reason i cannot give this a 5 star rating is i do not know enough about 3d printers yet.
the product arrive, minimal setup was required. I followed along the youtube video and got things setup and printing with a few minutes.
I look forward to learning more and more about the 3d printing hobby.
the staff at Monoprice was extremely helpful to all my emails.

Good 3D Printer

The printer seems to be of good quality for the price and is very functional. The instruction manual is very minimal and the technicians point you to online resources, such as you tube videos instead of personalized assistance. I would recommend a more comprehensive manual that points to those help videos instead of a contact that isn't really technical enough to help. My circumstance was a simple question of what to do when one filament runs out and another needs to be loaded. There were no instructions and after some research it seems you have to cancel the print job, throw out the partial project, load more filament and start over. A recommended improvement would be for the printer to signal low filament, pause and allow for a new roll to be inserted. It's hard to estimate how much is needed for a project and it is expensive to throw any material out.

Good.... for a short period of time.

The physical printing is great for minor prints and s.all scale items. However after a week the print bead begins to heat unevenly, and the textured layer has completely peeled off.

I love this machine as I bought a pre-owned one and it got to work right out of the box. My next printer will be the mini pro!

I like this little printer. It is my second select Mini. The first one I bought was used and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I bought the V2 instead of the pro because my other one is a V2 and now my parts will interchange if necessary for the most part. Due to some health issues I find it very difficult to live indoors so I live out of my truck and if you were to come up to wherever it is that I'm camped it's likely you would see the printer sitting on the seat next to me doing its thing. Pretty cool.

I have a few of these units and work a lot with them. Here are my 2 cents:
It's a little workhorse. Very good results and relatively easy to use out of the box.
Pros: - Can't beat the print quality on PLA. This printer does really well when compared to more expensive printers. Top surfaces look ironed. - Easy to calibrate. All manual, but then it's straight forward using a sheet of paper. - Easy to maintain. Small things to do.
Cons: - Small print area - Build plate sheet wears out very quickly, and "glues" prints to plate. Hard to remove prints damages sticker. - Cold-end bowden tube connector also wears out quick
For the best experience: - Replace the cold-end bowden tube connector with ebay item 283545757674. It lasts forever. - Replace build plate adhesive sheet (feels like sand paper). Peel off, clean up all adhesive residue and use 3M Scotch blue masking tape (no gaps!). Yes, it will hold your prints in place, and you can pull them by hand. Because prints pull easily out, masking tape lasts long. Plate side of prints look much better, good finishing. - Calibrate with a regular sheet of paper (as spacer) on all corners. Home the printer, power it off and tighten/loosen corner screw so paper sheet slides under extruder slightly "scratching" the extruder. - Use Monoprice Premium PLA filament. Inexpensive and has a nice finish. - If ever clogged, remove hot-end connector, heat to 230, push clog through with metal 1.75 unclogging tool, insert filament by hand until extruding, cool to 140 and firmly pull filament back. Gunk will be pulled on tip.
Support is very good if needed. Monoprice stands behind their product, I've used their help a few times. Happy 3D!
