Another misleading product

This projector claims to appear as 4k, however, this is a marketing gimic. This is a 1080p projector with upscaling to "4k" when in reality, it's really only generating an image with half of the detail as 4k. So in all, this looks like twice the pixels of 1080p, but only have of 4k. This is dissapointing to see Epson rely on these gimics to trick people.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS500

I used the projector to watch movies, it has a crystal clear picture as if I'm looking at a smart Tv. It's peacefully quiet and lets off less heat than other projectors I've had in the past. It has a short throw lens so you have put the projector low and inches away from the screen. I was using a 6ft screen and I would recommend using a 8ft screen or larger, but if could have been not adjusting the settings correctly.
It comes with a plug-in Epson android stick that you plug into the back slot (HDMI 3), which has a cover for it. You can download all apps just the same as a firestick. I Highly recommend this for your home especially if you have limited space.

The picture quality of this projector is absolutely incredible. The color, clarity, brightness, and the viewing angles far exceeded my expectations. The sharpness and details I'm able to see with regular TV viewing make this much more than just a theater room projector.
Installation of the projector is as simple as sitting it on a stand, hooking up to your satellite and plugging in. The setup of the unit was straight forward and simple, basically a plug an play. The addition of the included android stick which is installed and neatly tucked away in its own compartment makes streaming a breeze. This is a review for the Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS500 Short Throw Laser Projector that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

This is a lot more than what I expected in a projector. I knew it was likely to replace my current home theater set-up and was prepared for that but the quality of the picture and once I understood everything it could do, it blew me away. Connections for every possible
Unpacking and set up is pretty easy. I didn’t hook it up to our cable system yet but it’s ready to stream Netflix, Chrome, etc. right out of the box. And yes, my husband helped me with all of this this. It’s not small (not overall huge either - about the size of an old VCR). But it’s light.
You will need to dedicated theater area and cabinet for the best experience. The fact it’s short throw makes it very easy for set up. But, we will need to make an investment in a better screen than who we have (basically on older screen that probably my Dad used for slides). They aren’t cheap but reasonable. We’re doing some research and it will make the 4K experience completely unreal. Part of what we realized - this is a LOT more than a projector.
Once we have the theater set up with the screen and a new surround sound system (the unit’s sound it very good) I will post another video.

Easy Set-up. New look.

We are using this projector on top of our fireplace mantel. We were tired of having our living room be dominated by a big TV screen. We like how our living room now looks.
Unfortunately, our mantel is not deep enough to allow the picture from the projector to be much larger than 70"m(its capable of displaying up to ~120"). For a maximized picture the front edge of the projector must be around 20" from the wall. You would then need the surface to be at least 35" deep to take into account the body of the projector (15" deep). A standard fireplace mantel is not typically that deep (ours is 20" deep).
The set-up was very quick and easy. My husband and I unplugged the HDMI and power from our old TV, took it off the mantel, and plugged in the projector. We hit the power button on the remote and the full menu popped up on our wall. There are 2 remotes which cater more to Google products than Apple products.
The projector is louder than we expected. It emits a fan noise when turned on. The fan is not loud enough to interfere with the sound of what we are watching.
Picture Quality is awesome. But we live in a 100 year old craftsman house, and the walls in our house are far from smooth and perfect. The imperfections of the walls are visible when using the projector. Therefore, the picture quality is limited by our walls. This can be fixed by buying a screen, but would defeat the purpose of changing the look of our living room. We are considering buying a pull down projector screen.

Better than expected

Going 120” is a point of no return, 55 TV OUT, LS500 120-inch IN
I was interested in upgrading my 55-inch TV to a bigger one. I started looking at TV options and noticed that they cap at around 85-inch and then prices sky rocket. I came across the concept of Laser TV, which uses a projector to get to much bigger sizes. So this triggered my interest and I started doing lots of research, because I wanted something with no compromises. I was initially concerned about having to dim the room, running wires, figuring out a screen and not having enough performance for gaming, which are typical concerns with projectors solutions. But the Epson LS500 checked all the boxes, with an impressive brightness level, and ultra-short throw design, an included screen optimally designed for the projector and with an outstanding gaming performance.
I decided for the 120-inch version, which according to my math is 4.75 times bigger than my previous 55-inch TV, and 2x bigger than the 85-inch. There were definitely some things I needed to care of to get this massive 120-inch screen installed. I had to re-center the soundbar obviously, check the screen would fit on my wall especially because of ceiling height, find a piece of furniture that worked and looked well and even re-locate an air conditioning vent that would have been covered by the screen. That already was a lot of work, I’m not going to lie, plus building and setting up the screen requires patience and time if you want to get it perfect. But believe me, all the work I did was 1000% worth it, this thing looks much better in real life than in videos, it exceeded my expectations, and I couldn’t be happier.
My gaming experience on my Xbox is incredible, I don’t perceive any lag at all, and my kids are happy playing Fortnite. Watching soccer games together like we do now is something we didn’t even know was possible. My wife is happy too, movies and TV series look awesome! It makes us forget we are in our living room. The LS500 redefined the entertainment experience at home.
