Really nice, could be great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After waiting several months, we finally received our new microwave. It has a sleek modern style and tons of great features… operates very quietly, has convection and a rack so you can do more than one dish at a time. But, and it’s a big but, the buttons aren’t backlit so at night they’re impossible to see unless my overhead kitchen light is on. I’ve had others in the past that had lighted buttons…so easy to warm up a dish for a late night snack without having to light the whole kitchen. KitchenAid, you could have the perfect appliance with a bit more thought toward how we really use a microwave.

Sensor Cook redefines frozen veggies
on April 5, 2021

The very first thing we cooked in our new microwave was a steamer basket-load of frozen spinach. I figured we might as well run it through the wringer. The big surprise? The spinach was actually good! It was cooked to perfect tooth feel and doneness. The next morning I reheated my breakfast using the timer. I set it to five seconds less than my previous 1000 watt microwave. Again, it cooked all the way through perfectly.
I haven't tried the convection option yet, and this is one of the reasons I knocked off a star. This appliance is in dire need of a recipe book or other 'acceptable use' guide. I had to turn to the internet to learn that it is okay to put metal into the device when using the convection-only option. It's in the manual, but the quick reference guide contraindicates it. Here are the exact quotes: Manual: "Metal bakeware may be used only during convection (bake) cycles" Quick Reference under Convection Bake: "Use the provided short convection rack and a microwave-safe, ovenproof baking dish." These instructions are contradictory, and a recipe guide could have clarified the confusion.
The last reason I knocked off a star is that my template was off by 1/8th inch. There is no mention that there is excess space at the top of the rear template in the manual for a fascia. In fact, the manual indicates to shift the template down in case of a cabinet fascia. I ended up having to shim the top of the installation to ensure the weight of the microwave is borne by the studs in the wall and not the bottom of my cabinet. This provided a nice reveal all the way around, but not everyone will know how to shim to create this effect and there may be a lot of these hanging from the cabinets and not the walls because of this.

Efficient microwave

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had the unit installed for about 2 months now and my major objection to it is the lack of clear instructions on the use of the convection features. The instructions that come with the unit are woefully lacking.

The vent doesn't vent
on August 30, 2021

I have had my convection microwave for 4 years. It still doesn't vent. I see the same issues as another reviewer. The fan on Mac I still have a ton of smoke and steam. The face of the oven gets dripping wet as do my cabinets. Other than the size and look it isn't worth buying. I bake a lot. Something in the microwave died. The oven no longer bakes evenly now. So I can't use it as just an oven. We tried have it repaired. It cost less to replace. It just breaks my heart. We bought it because kitchen aid has been around forever. I guess forever doesn't mean the same today as it did when my grandmother and mother bought kitchen aid.

Our Secret Double Oven!
on May 7, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We were very purposeful in purchasing this microwave with convection cooking as our kitchen layout couldn't accommodate a double oven. This literally creates a double oven option for us as we host our family for Thanksgiving and other holiday cooking events. What a space saving option; definitely something for buyers to consider when space considerations limit double oven configurations. A must buy!

Fantastic Microwave

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was tempted to go with the low profile microwave for it's sleek appearance, but I'm glad I went with the full size option instead. The convection oven option is very useful for small items when I don't want to heat up the big oven. Wish I used the convection more often honestly. The sensor cooking options are nice too. The metal rack in it can be annoying because I think I need to take it out every time I use the microwave. But maybe I don't need to? I'll try it with it in and if you don't hear back from me assume it either worked or my house burned down and I had bigger things to worry about than updating my review. Probably don't rely on this review for information about whether the rack is microwave safe actually.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Absolutely love the size as it can cook larger items with ease. The roast and steam settings are both fantastic, you would know you were cooking with a microwave. Looks great and super quiet operation.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The light underneath doesn't have an automatic night light like my previous GE - and I have to remember to change it at night and again in the morning
Somewhat complicated but i like it .
