TT works well

Although TT is relatively straightforward, there are some aspects that are somewhat archaic. Also, in the past, there was an estimated tax display at the top of the program, that changed as information was inputted. But that is no longer there. Also, there are few explanations along the way, as one navigates the program. So while it is easy to input data, it's not always easy to know what it is that you are doing.

Turbo Tax for Business

Does not allow direct import of investment transactions from brokerages similar to individual tax returns. Make it more cumbersome as I do not use Quicken.

Still a lot of bugs...

Every year there are new random bugs. This year, it magically doubled my income from the previous year. It failed to put my distributions on the right line, and it misclassified my income. (This happens every year. If you answer step by step questions correctly, it gets confused about salary vs. officer compensation.) One of these years they'll get it figured out. You think they would just look at their support message boards as a free bug reporting tool, but nope. It's the same bugs every year...

I've finished my taxes. I start to efile. Then the TurboTax software comes up with "There is some more information we need". If that's the case why wasn't I asked for the information in the first place? I went round and round on this. Finally I figured out the name of the estate was too long. Too long? Why was I able to enter it in the first place? I should have received an error message once the field was full. Everything worked out in the end, but the software should have caught that in the first place.
