Better than nothing
on April 18, 2021
Posted by: Cindy A
I have used TurboTax for my personal returns for decades. While this product is better than nothing, it pales in comparison to TurboTax Home and Business software. There is no ability to import from a brokerage account. There are many questions that simply direct you to fill in a form. There is also a screen with a list of forms and checkboxes asking if you need to file any of those forms. There isn't even a title or description of the forms so if you don't recognize the form number, you'll have to go to the IRS website to look them up. State software is not included and requires an additional purchase for a state version. That made the total cost for federal and state more than 2 1/2 times the cost of TT Home & Business. I did find the state version to be sufficient. I manage a small trust with a single beneficiary. I used the software because I'm familiar with the TurboTax look and function. I'm also very familiar with the tax filing for this particular trust. I have never used it for an estate so I can't speak to it's usefulness there.

Ask About Extension First
on April 19, 2021
Posted by: DDoherty03
TurboTax ought to notice when work is begun on a return that is nearly due and ask if the user wants to file an extension at the very outset. As it is now, it only asks when the return is nearly complete, which in my case was too late. I thought the filing deadline for all returns was extended to 5/15, but learned on 4/15 that the filing date for 1120-S was not extended. I had to file an manual extension after-hours, so I doubt that it will work.
I could have used the reminder up front and an option to e-file an extension request.

Need to fix VA Form 502A issue
on April 19, 2021
Posted by: Debby A
Have used TT for years and mostly satisfied. This year though, don't know why Form 502A was generated. We are not a multi-state business. TT would not efile without completing this form. Went online and found other users with same problem. Their solution was to delete Form 502A, which I did and was then able to efile. Wasted an hour trying to figure out. PLEASE FIX !
