I prepared Federal 1041 and Mass Form 2. Turbo Tax Business and the Massachusetts state software allowed me to complete both taxes and file from my desk.

Helpful tools except state

I was thankful for the service because I had no idea what I was doing. However, the state filing was difficult as I didn't know what to do and I kept being asked to review the forms in their entirety and I had no clue what to do on each of the.

For the price, the state return should be included

TurboTax Business CD seems to get worse each year. Also, it is very cumbersome to have to download the state return after completing the Federal. It should be like TurboTax Deluxe and include the state return also. Since you will need to do the state return anyway, it is better to just pay for everything at once

Need to create more state forms

I purchase the turbo tax specifically for the 1041 forms, but I is a nuisance to not be able to continue on with my state OR41. I would expect for the price to be able to do my state forms too.

TurboTax for Business better for federal than CA

For CA the software wouldn't let me efile my CA state corporate income tax return. It kept asking me to review my six digit business code which is the same as for federal. The forms had pre-populated with the same code I used for state returns in the previous tax year's filing which went through without a hitch. I was able to file in CA by printing the return and "snail mailing".
It also did not handle PPP loan forgiveness well except for the $1000 small EIDL "advance" that is treated as a grant for federal but not CA purposes. I realize CA legislation to allow PPP once forgiven not to be taxed as income, and the expenses paid by it to still be deductions, is pending. But I had to discover that by googling it was not info that popped up in the CA state turbo tax software.
