Turbo Tax Business for Estates and Trusts

Turbo Tax Business is decent for Estates and Trusts but could use updating. For example should be able to attach additional documents/statements needed for filing.

Issues with updates

I have used Turbo tax for my corporate and personal tax returns for the past decade. I am a loyal Intuit user! This year I have had serious issues with installing the updates to the various programs - I use Premier, Business, and Home & Business. My IT contractor can only fix the issues by re-installing the software - not a desirable fix.

State Forms are buggy

Generally great and easy to use.
State forms need better QA. I spend 2 hours on the phone with support only to end up identifying the problem for them and then coming up with my own work around

Helpful but still a lot of tax jargon

I really like TurboTax generally. I am especially a big fan of the individual return process, when they do a great job of guiding you through the whole process, what is needed, what isn't, and what is worth considering to maximize your refund. With that said, the Business side could use some help. There are a lot of sections, particularly in the State tax section, that aren't explained any more clearly than by the IRS. There is still quite a lot of tax/accounting jargon that isn't easy for a layperson to understand. For these reasons, I am considering using a tax preparer for my business taxes next year, even though our business is overall quite simple. The risks of getting it wrong because I didn't properly understand what was being asked are too high, and I would prefer to work with a person who can actually answer my questions in a clear and coherent way. With that said, if you don't mind taking on a little risk, the price is quite good and the software overall is very user friendly.

TurboTax Is A Robust, Mature, Complex Program

TurboTax is complicated, and does not have good instructions or tutorials to educate the user. If I hadn't done my corporate returns, or Trust returns, or even personal 1040 returns with an experienced accountant for many years, I would not be able to follow the Byzantine process required. It is also too expensive.
