TurboTax came through again

I have used Turbotax for over 10 years as an individual and five years as a business. Compared to when I first started using it, TurboTax has become easier and more user friendly.

Overpriced and clunky

Does not improve from year to year. Asked you questions, then runs a review, then says that a form is not complete. But the software was supposed to fill in the forms. The review is OK, then says there are errors when you try and transmit

Decided to attempt to do the estate tax return (1041) for my late brother's estate and was impressed how easy it was. Since I had to gather all of the records myself, I thought why should I do 90% of the work and then pay someone a small fortune for the last 10%. Glad I did this myself as I feel that it was done right and I can follow all of the transactions in the return (especially the three real estate sales).

Good, takes a while to figure out & a few gliches

Got started real easy. The step-by-step had no step to enter the PPP loan nor information on classifying it. Thank heavens for the forum - great help. Took a while to figure out navigation between forms and step-by-step. And then on the balance sheet, it insisted in putting the liabilites in Recursive. Then I found you could not just delete the entry and correct, you had to enter a 0. Net-net - pretty happy.
