Tony the Program Developer is a Genius!

I have used TurboTax to file my business returns for the last 6 years. I never had any issues until this year. I tried everything to e-file my state but kept having issues. The customer service at TurboTax tried their best to help me but it was Tony the Program Developer that resolved my issue and ultimately, helped me to e-file my Virginia business taxes. Thank you a million times over!

Instructions for 1041 are incomplete

Several complaints about instructions on 1041 for trusts, like how to enter 199 QBI and adding the partners/shareholders it asks for.
The main complaint is that I am amending the return. It says the return has already been e-filed and no information about what I should do next to get the amended return off to IRS.

Easy to use

I am a retired CPA who previously prepared taxes using accountant's software. When I had to start preparing my taxes from home I chose TurboTax Business. I find it easy to use and comprehensive. I'm not sure how a person who never used a tax program before would view TurboTax but I found that it met my needs.

Many errors in the program

I've used turbotax for many years, and every year, I find myself having to spend extra 1-2 hours going back on the tax because of apparent software flaw/error. Sometimes, a form that is not necessary will appear during the error check and I have to go delete the form. Sometimes, some questionnaires either get answered incorrectly or left out altogether. It's supposed to be a complicated process, but I find that they REALLY need to step up their game on the back end of the programming...because it's ALWAYS super frustrating.

Again Gets the Job done BUT

when going through each return - every time you have to check the same boxes even though the form/file is saved. error check says federal and state forms are okay but when saving a pdf file program states there are errors which there was looking at individual forms

Some parts of the Turbo Tax leave you hanging and answers are not intuitive.
So some times I had to guess and roll the dice to see if my answer is accepted.
Calling back to question Intuit is a hassle, so I just fumble through

TAXACT is far better then Turbo Tax

Taxact is a for more elegant interface, the help is better and data entry works better. Most years it is also far less expensive but in 2020 Turbo Tax was much cheaper. One thing better about Turbo Tax is that the business program does all types of corporations and trusts.
