[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a fantastic laptop for development and general use. I had a t420 before it, and i can definitely say that the thinkpad brand still lives on. The T14 is an amazing laptop.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pros:
Lots of nice ports (2 USB-C, 2 USB-A, RJ-45 ethernet! etc.) But there is room for more, it feels like cost containment. Would have been nice to have a full-size SD card slot instead of MicroSD, a DisplayPort, and more PCIe
Great wireless card, much better than "Killer"-brand wireless chip in my Dell XPS (which I eventually replaced with an Intel!)
I got the low-power IPS 1080 matte display, which is very nice (bright, adjustable brightness, does not flicker, great color, sharp, no annoying reflections like my other glossy laptops).
Feels very durable... more durable than other laptops I currently use (Dell XPS, Macbook Air). However, perhaps not quite as durable as my T20 and T400 (why am I always buying the first gen of a new Thinkpad line!?); the lid is more plastic and less metal, for example. However, it is thinner and lighter than those.
USB-C power delivery works great. Nice BIOS. Trackpoint is excellent.
Happy to be able to configure without unwanted Intel vPro.
Ability to expand memory, change SSD, and replace battery is important to me.
Cons: Would prefer 16:10 aspect ratio, instead of 16:9. Display bezels, especially bottom, are relatively large for a laptop (and display) of this cost and caliber.
Keyboard travel is good, but not as crisp and a bit too much effort required for my taste. Touchpad click is similarly muddy feeling, and required too much force to click (Touchpad seems inferior to Macbook Air and Pro, and to Dell XPS).
Sometimes if I lift the laptop by the right palm rest, the touchpad seems to register random mouse input.
I'd prefer if Ctrl and Fn key positions were swapped, and if both left and right Ctrl keys were larger. As a software engineer, Ctrl is an important key for me. Unimportant PrtSc key does not need to be in this important location.
No keyboard backlight on my model.
Could not order without unwanted rootkit-like Absolute BIOS (but I was able to "Permanently Disable" in BIOS. I haven't explored to see if it was really gone, though.) Seems like a major security problem.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The laptop has good performance on regular office related tasks and seems sturdily built. It is quite heavy though.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this laptop because it was recommended by my school. For the price I really expected a smooth operating CPU. It is for the most part but I am already having problems with the wireless card not recognizing the IP address of my 5G router within the first few weeks.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is great laptop for school or work. The laptop is sleek and well-designed. The keyboard is fantastic and the touchscreen is a very useful feature.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Runs super fast and doesn't weigh too much, making it great for college students! I'm just starting a phd program and this laptop meets all the requirements.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a first year college student. I’ve found the T14 to be the perfect size for carrying around, and the privacy functions useful. My only complaint as a student during COVID is that the webcam quality is not fantastic. Other than that I’ve greatly enjoyed this laptop.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Disappointed that it does not have a touch screen. I guessed (incorrectly) all T14 had touch screen
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
