[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had my Thinkpad X1 Yoga Gen 5 for almost a month now and have had to download many programs and apps. I was dreading this part of having a new computer because of the time it takes and often glitches. However, my Thinkpad has changed that dreading to a pleasure to use - its been a virtual workhorse handling everything quickly and efficiently, And unlike my previous computer, it accepted my bluetooth devices without a problem. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Thinkpad X1Yoga to anyone.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am reviewing the ThinkPad X1 Yoga 5th gen with 10th Gen i5, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, UHD 4K display. I've used it daily for about a month now.
I cannot review any laptop without knowing it's price bracket since that's really what sets the bar. The X1 Yoga 5 gen carries a top premium price tag and therefore is expected to impress. I am not impressed. The build quality of the laptop I received is unacceptable for something retailing at well over $3,000 USD. The display works as it should, but was not installed with a proper level of attention to detail. It seems to have been pinched into place along the top and bottom edges which is clearly evident when it is off and you see how wavy the reflections are on the glass. Never have I seen this on any device costing much, much less let alone on one at this price point.
The power button is on the side. It is small and slightly recessed. I consider this a major design flaw. Not only do you have to feel around every time you turn it on, you must also have short nails to be successful at pressing it! Also, the exhaust vent is on the right side instead of the left. Most people are right handed and that means the hot air will blow on the hand using the mouse. There's no escaping it, but fortunately for me, I have the i5 which will not heat up as quickly as the i7 and so far, the heat has not bothered me very much. I might feel differently when the summer arrives.
So what do I really think? There are many laptops out there that provide top level quality and performance at a fraction of the price. My remarks here are only on some points of build and design and are far from exhaustive. I could go on with the review for much longer than either of us desire. Simply, I urge you to do some research and comparison shopping before shelling out. This is my second ThinkPad and my first X1. It is a very expensive laptop, but is it worth it? No! And therein lies the real issue. It's a good laptop, just not worth the money. Perhaps not even worth the price on sale.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
