I’m new to the world of espresso and under appreciated how quickly the rabbit hole can grow. That being said, there are a few things I have appreciated about this machine in the few weeks that I’ve owned it.
First is set up and manual via BILT. Having something more visual and interactive is helpful.
Second, is the machine itself. I appreciate that there are a few variables to play with, but not so much that it becomes overwhelming. It heats up fast, easy to play with shot volumes, and the milk frother is easy to use/effective. Also helpful that it doesn’t take up a huge amount of space.
Two things I would change: the tamp isn’t heavy enough to be helpful. Immediately changed to a different one.
Second, for the very new, a class or support option would be super helpful. I bought my machine when it included a bean subscription, which helps me learn about flavor and dialing in -but I would have traded the beans for a class (not a deal breaker).
A great machine for a new user or one that only makes a few cups of coffee a day. Simple/Easy to use with the right combination of manual and auto features. Coffee is consistently good and the easy to use automatic milk frothing is a big plus.
This has been a wonderful machine for a newbie. I’m the only coffee drinker in my family and cannot justify a massive machine worth thousands of dollars. This is easy to use and makes a delicious cup of goodness. I had an issue with my first machine, Breville customer service was incredible and patiently walked me through everything and remedied the issue completely and promptly. I would 10/10 buy again! I do use the steaming wand and find the tray should e dumped every time.
The first machine was defective, after many phone calls, and sending the first machine for service, it was decided that a new machine was in order. The second machine has worked flawlessly so far, I’ve had it for a month. Very easy to operate and enjoy the automatic milk frothing wand.
I can't compare this to other machines, but out of the box, it was very simple to use. unfortunately, I found the stock basket causing small random sprays of water when I bought a bottomless portafilter. Also, milk has a way of falling onto my counter through a space on the reservoir.
I love this machine, coming in new to the world of espresso this makes my love for it grow even more.... love the sleek look, compact size and the price was just right.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Save a little money and get the bambino

I bought this machine on a black friday sale. I picked the plus over the bambino for the auto steam feature as I am new to this level of making coffee drinks at home. I have had a lot of issues with the milk overflowing in the middle of the steaming process. It is like the auto sensor isn't working in my machine. Of the 8 times I have used it, 2 times it has not overflowed everywhere. The nice thing is it's a light machine so it is easy to clean up after, and I can do the wand in manual in the model. Some reviews say this machine can't shoot out hot water, but it definitely can. I use it to make hot americanos, and there is a page in the book that show you which to buttons to press to do so. Overall, not terrible but, I wish the auto wand worked like it is supposed to. I would suggest the Bambio not the plus to save some money.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
