The flatware is very thin and feels like is will break in your hand. It is a step above fine plastic ware.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Gorgeous set, and a great price for 18/10 stainless steel! I love that it’s dishwasher safe too. We received this as a wedding gift and can’t wait to use it for many years to come.
