Awesome car

I have all the expert creator cars and this is the 2nd coolest one (the 007 car is #1 for sure). The mustang is a great build with lots of cool features and the finished product is an awesome display piece. I liked the idea of the hot rod customizations and I played around with those but felt like the car looked best in its most classic form. I would now like to see LEGO design a classic pickup truck from the 1960s or maybe a Jeep.

Perfect except...

... a real missed opportunity to allow people to truly get a custom model. I wish you offered this (and most other cars) in three or four color choices. This could have been a beautiful "Bullitt" tribute! Other than that, one of the BEST builds I have ever done and everything else is amazing.

Rekindling interest

I’m 36 and I like to describe myself as a life-long LEGO fan but there has been a long stretch of my life after I moved out of my parent’s house when I barely had any LEGO where I lived.
Until this Ford Mustang set.
Even without actively buying or building LEGOs, I couldn’t really escape LEGO marketing, not in New York where there are two separate LEGO stores. I’ve seen some creator cars sets but until this one, none had caught my attention enough to warrant a purchase.
Either the models weren’t true enough to the real world inspiration, or I was just not interested in the real world inspiration. But this set was the perfect intersection of a nice rendition of a car I am interested in. The working steering was just the icing on an already very appetizing cake and made me decide on the purchase in May 2019.
I don’t remember the build experience itself, but I know it’s been sitting prominently on my successive shelves ever since, with and without the add-ons.
I knocked a point off playability because even with working steering and adjustable rear ride height, it still is a display set at heart.
And a fine one at that.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This car was really amazing! There are so many features and details that I’ve seen, admired, and never thought to see such beauty in a lego design! This GT 390 could’ve been a little bit better if the air filter had chrome on it, since other filters from that era had that, but other than that, it was a really great build for the buck!

Just misses a 5 for me

OK why does it miss 5 stars - 2 details are a bit weak - the trunk spoiler needs to be better finished on the backside IMHO smooth finish elements would add much to the appearance - number 2 is the unfinished look to the hinges on the hood at the windshield line - I was actually looking through the directions for some finishing pieces that are not there - and looked at the example at my local Lego store to assure myself that I had done it correctly!
Good points include excellent engineering where the hood just clears the blower when opened - excellent new style mag wheels - and the high quality key fob is an unexpected surprise!
Maybe next time put a working suspension and upcharge 30-40 bucks for it - a fun build that should not disappoint anyone the way it currently is structured!
