Love it.....But
on March 27, 2020

I was never a huge fan of Michael Keaton as Batman but I did like the batmobile at that time. I love how LEGO designed such a sturdy, beautifully engineered, aerodynamic piece! But it’s a little disappointing missing pieces on first bag and having to skip to other bags and building mini parts of other bags until you can’t build cause you need the previous part to carry on. I was able to build a little from bag 2 and 3 and can only mostly build the last bag only to find out I’m missing 3 major pieces to complete the display for bat mobile. Common LEGO I bought 2 boxes of this model and obviously not cheap and opened one for my entertainment to keep my mind off from this Covid 19 tragedy. This is to keep me sane a bit and on isolation since I’m an ER nurse. I opened 4 bags and the first and last bags missing pieces??? I just hope the other bags aren’t missing pieces were I have to wait for 7-10 days to receive missing pieces. Love the model but the quality control poorly managed. If I wasn’t missing pieces so early in build I’d definitely give this model 5/5!

Bad Instructions Make Tedious Build
on December 2, 2021
Posted by: CurtisJ
While the final product turns out to be pretty cool, this was my only experience with a model which had so many essential steps (meaning a main, nearly irreversible placement that could make-or-break your entire build). Yet, while I was expecting a more advance design and build, the instructions provided seemed ill-fit to pretty much ever show the right angle to make sure you were doing the step right until several steps later. At first, I thought I was simply messing up a lot and not paying attention, but after a bit I realized it simply didn't show it well enough and didn't have any major visual marker to keep the monotone black car from blending into one another. While highlights help show what is the new lego to add, it often added things in an order that seemed without purpose (until you realize where it's going), so it made checking yourself much harder. I ended up getting about half through when I realized I had an extra row of length in the car build, but by that point the pieces are snapped into itself at the frame in such a way that it is very difficult to undo them without starting over. I actually broke a piece prying it out with a tool that couldn't be easily dislodged (and that one I discovered was misplaced right away). The car at the end looks very cool, some modifications made it so I just made it work with the extra row. I think back to the build though and I didn't enjoy myself as much putting it together because of how tedious it was making sure not to make a single mistake (for fear of not being able to go back) and because every thing has to be done on both sides equally (ie twice), which is the nature of a car. Parts I enjoyed the most was the shaping of the fins and the fact that the guns can rise out of the car. The biggest design flaw is the steering wheel us Lego size, but the car is not... so it's tough to use it to steer it as intended, which could have been cool.

If you like the Batman Tumbler...
on January 25, 2020

Great set! I’ve built many of the larger LEGO sets (UCS,ETC) and the batmobile is one of my favorites. Awesome detail and looks great next to the Tumbler. Only knock , which is an admitted knit-pick, is the roof piece is an odd color that doesn’t match the rest of the black pieces. I’d buy and build again!

The best Lego set to date
on December 9, 2019

The 1989 Batmobile is one of the best sets I think Lego has ever come up with to date. The build was challenging and far from boring. Every single step was so interesting and watching this massive car get built was an absolute pleasure. I think it is priced extremely well for such a massive build and the team clearly spent many hours putting it together to be mass produced. It’s quite evident as you get further along and see some extremely brilliant techniques to put this thing together. I would recommend this for ages 16+ for sure because it is a challenge. Personally I think this is the best set to date from Lego (even better then the UCS Falcon).

Awesome

I am a fan of the 1989 Batmobile, but not enough to pay $250 for it. I saw the set online and thought it looked cool, and I really liked the details in the cockpit, but at that price I had to pass. Then I saw it put together at the Lego store and there was no going back. This set is huge, and the level of detail inside and out was too much to pass up. I have a couple of the Star Wars UCS sets (Slave one and the Snow speeder) and this set was the best build yet. Not only was this set a fun build, but is a very well put together set. Definitely sturdy enough to play with a little.

STREET BEAST

A strait up showstopper! I haven't even finished building it and it's already impressive. A MASSIVE and beautiful model, a perfect exclusive with an amazing schematic of the batmobile on the secondary box. Rims and tires are excellent, it's a perfect combination of the 1989 Keaton version with a tumbler touch. This is how the batmobile should look! It's a nice, thick, REALLY good looking set with perfect packaging. A great Christmas gift worth every dollar.

Bought this for my 37 year old son............He was as excited as a 7 year old! He can't wait to start it, says it looks "easy". Has to wait for a couple more weeks, as new baby boy born. His smile was the best gift to me!!!!

This was a very fun build. This brought back memories of the original Keaton Batman all over again. The attention to detail is truly superb!
