Exquisite
on February 9, 2018

First of all thanks to Jake Sadovich for his fantastic idea and to the lego designers who made his idea exquisite.
The building is very interesting because it involves a smart use of pieces to fit the ship in the bottle. Lego designers made the set exquisite by accomplish a perfect round bottle. If you buy this set you don´t need anything more to enlighten any furniture, just let the set be on top.
Ps: watch out with your fingers in all the glass or your fingerprints will stay there for posterity.

Not impressed

I'm disappointed in this set. The ship is tiny and lacking detail. The base is neat w some nice details but the small ship sunk this build. The bottle needs to b redesigned to allow for a better ship. This set is good for die hard Lego fans but the casual builder won't enjoy this set.

Nice model

As a display model this set is great. It is an interesting build with a few complications, especially keeping track of the transparent parts, so it requires some concentration. It's worth taking time with it, though, as the end result is very pleasing.
My only criticism is that with a bit more thought and few more bricks the appearance of the ship could have been improved. I read that another reviewer had added a spare 1x1 slope to the bow to improve the appearance and I did the same as I also had a spare. The exposed studs on the side of the hull could quite easily have been covered, and why was a red 1x1 with stud used for the flag instead of a 1x1 tile, which would have looked much better?
Nonetheless I enjoyed this build, the finished result looks great, and if you buy it knowing that it is nothing more than a display model then you won't be disappointed.

Great Idea

The ship in a bottle idea is brilliant and the bottle can be used to store other things as well (little fairy/hobbit house, a rose, anything you can build and fit inside it.) But the whole set has 962 pieces, the bottom of the bottle has over 100 pieces, and the pieces that make up the water is over 280 pieces. This, in my opinion, could have been done in a LOT less pieces, allowing it to be a LOT cheaper. But it’s a fun little set and I’m happily displaying it. I’m thinking of finding all of pieces that make up the ship in black, having a custom nameplate that says “Black Pearl”, and setting it next to my Silent Mary set.

The Difference is what made this!

I literally just purchased this kit a few hours ago. I loved putting it together. The biggest reason is that it is so different from all the others. It will look great with the fishing store. My only wish was that it had more "water" lego pieces. Not enough of a concern to give it less than the highest rating!

Great display for a home

I visited the Lego store just to browse. As I walked out this set caught my eye and I immediately bought it. There was only 2 left and I managed to buy 1 of them. It was fun putting it together and it looks great on my table in my man cave.

Ship in a Bottle

Great set. Great design.
Out of dozens of sets that I have this is one of my top 3 favorites for the build and design.
I really like so much of this set, the cork & bottle neck, the bottom of the bottle, the masts, the tiny cannons, the compass, the whole stand, and more. The pouring in of the 'water' was quite unique & kind of fun...
Even the box is good design, it can easily be closed and reopened. LEGO!- Please make all or at least more boxes like this!
I think the biggest gripe that could be said about this set is all the small pieces- see pic -(not the 'water', thats great)
Overall worth the purchase, great display, not for playing.

Excellent Display Piece

As I have commented before, we are more collectors than anything else. Halfway through we realized we needed to keep the clear pieces clear of fingerprints. Wiped everything off and continued the build. As with the Saturn Rocket I am glad no stickers were involved. This is a quality build.
