Nice display set

It is a nice build and the size of the end product is good, not too big but big enough to draw the eye. The main difficulty was knowing the differences between the gold and orangy-brown colors in the instructions. This might have to do with my inexperience in building with those colors. The build was quite fast. With 25 minutes for the ship and 55 minutes for the bottle and base, of which I used 5 minutes to count the 284 elements used for water. Those elements are not used anywhere else, so I ended up taking the top from the bottle and putting all of them in. (After counting I had some left over.) I kind of like this design, so I might end up never taking it apart, however the transparent items might end up in one thing or another. I made one modification to the design, where I took a spare slope brick from the hull of the ship and put it on the bow, to make the bow less straight. The element separator is a nice addition, but I did not need it.
The compass decoration on the base is nice, but is almost completely hidden by the ship and bottle. The needle spins good, but it would be nice if it was a bit less loose so I can point it to the north :).
The only part of the product that I might redesign is the cork. I think the attempt at detailing has failed. I think I might replace the wheel part with something else.

Exquisite

First of all thanks to Jake Sadovich for his fantastic idea and to the lego designers who made his idea exquisite.
The building is very interesting because it involves a smart use of pieces to fit the ship in the bottle. Lego designers made the set exquisite by accomplish a perfect round bottle. If you buy this set you don´t need anything more to enlighten any furniture, just let the set be on top.
Ps: watch out with your fingers in all the glass or your fingerprints will stay there for posterity.

Yo Ho Ho And A Bottle of Fun

I really enjoyed putting this set together. When I saw the bag of transparent pieces I thought “OMG” that’s going to be difficult to do” but I was ok. I enjoyed the challenge of putting the bottle together especially the bottom of the bottle. And the size of it! I knew the measurements but I was shocked how big it was when finished. Highly recommended build

Bottle Ship

I love this. I made this a birthday present to myself. This was a very fun project to do.
The ship was the hardest to do, but still easy enough for the beginner. The bottle was quick to get together.
The stand is sturdy. A little challenging. The directions were easy to follow.
To small to use with any mini figures.
Still is a nice item to add to my collection.

Fun to build although tricky to pick out tiny clear bricks and studs among all the other tiny clear bricks and studs. This made the bottom of the bottle the fiddliest part to put together. My eyes were so tired I sat the rest aside until the next day. It goes together fairly quickly after that and looks amazing! I have displayed it proudly on my shelf with the 'compass' orientated north. So many nice pieces make up great detail on this. I love it. Very happy with the display value of this. Easy to dust too.

Not a bad set at all

There's some fluff pieces, but not many. Personally, I think the bottle has too many pieces in it, and the "clarity" of the bottle really suffers. There are almost no larger pieces in this set. The bottle contains scores of 2x1x1/3 pieces that should very well have been 6x1x1/3 pieces both for strength and clarity. The biggest disappointment here is the bottle, as I've mentioned. Either new elements should have been introduced, or larger elements used. The price is high for this model, most likely due to the inflated piece count the water studs bring. The stopper design for the bottle really is stellar, and saves the bottle from being complete chaos. The ship itself is very good for the scale represented. It scales at a decent ratio to the bottle. Slightly longer, still with three masts, but with 4 cannons per side would have been ideal. The base really brings this model home. The built in "compass" feature under the bottle is nothing short of great, I only wish it were a more prominent part of the final display.
Overall, I'm proud to own this one, but the urge to pick some bricks and modify the bottle is going to be hard to fight. I certainly hope for more of these great display builds in the future.

Exceptional LEGO set!

Just got mine yesterday and I have to say, this set was so fun to build and looks amazing displayed! I think it's genius how the top of the bottle is designed to perfectly align with the masts. The top of the bottle actually keeps the ship secure since it's attached at the bottom only. It was more challenging to build than I expected it to be because you have to build the bottle around the ship. I am pretty meticulous about the alignment of my parts, so getting the masts how I wanted them and putting the bottle together around them was tricky, but I enjoyed this extra effort. After all, it is a ship in a bottle. Oh, and in case you were wondering, the compass in the base can be spun freely, which is a fun added play feature. This is the 4th LEGO Ideas set that I have purchased and it's the first one I purchased that isn't based on an existing intellectual property. If I had the money, I'd buy more LEGO Ideas sets, but I have to be picky about the ones I do purchase. It's safe to say I am completely satisfied with my purchase.
