Yo Ho Ho And A Bottle of Fun

I really enjoyed putting this set together. When I saw the bag of transparent pieces I thought “OMG” that’s going to be difficult to do” but I was ok. I enjoyed the challenge of putting the bottle together especially the bottom of the bottle. And the size of it! I knew the measurements but I was shocked how big it was when finished. Highly recommended build

This set falls apart in a heartbeat. It is very finicky to assemble. At the very least, at the very very least, Lego could have made a clear 1x3 plate or 1x4 plate or specifically a clear 1x6 plate to hold the umpteen little 1x1 blocks and plates together. Making this bottle out of so many, and I do mean many many 1x1 plates and 1x2 plates was just not the right thing to do. I assume Lego needed to stay under a certain selling price point and thus the shortcuts in what could have been a quality build that actually holds together and would look better. In the end, I am somewhat happy I am now in possession of Lego bottle that I can fill with MOCs.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Another great Ideas kit

This is a great example of what the Ideas program can offer. I qas hoping the finaldeaign qould be closer to the original submission. But it’s still a nice interpretation. It looks very impressive as a finoshed piece. But the ship itself lacks detail and could use more help.

Ship in a Bottle

This was a fun build, but pretty tedious with tons of tiny (and clear!) pieces. It was more challenging to build than I thought it would be, but I mean that as a POSITIVE! I like the fact that it took me longer to build that I originally thought.
I It looks awesome displayed close to my "Old Fishing Store".
Just in caser you buy this (I highly recommend it!), let me mention this. It may save you from a little stress!
**When I got to the part where I was inserting the ship into the partially built bottle, I was concerned that the ship masts were too tall and the bottle pieces wouldn't fit over it. But it was done this way on purpose to securely hold the ship inside the bottle. The bottle pieces that fit above the masts are a little different and WILL fit and will help keep the ship snug!

Excellent Building Experience

When I first saw that the Ship in a Bottle was available, I thought that this would be an excellent project for my 9 year old grandson who is an above average Lego builder. I thought that even though the kit is supposed to be for a 12+ year old that my grandson could easily put it together. He has no problem putting together Lego kits. He completed the kit in about 2.5 hours without any problems in following the step-by-step instructions. The finished product is beautiful. We need to find a good place to display the Ship in a Bottle. My grandson took pride in what he had built and even sent a photo of the fished kit in a text message to one of his uncles.
I would recommend this to a friend!

My First Ideas set

I saw this Lego set already built at a clients' house and immediately fell in love. I haven't played with Lego since I was a little kid and I had no sets of my own. My partner gave this set to me for my 53rd birthday. The only other Lego set I had at this point was one of the Log Cabins. Being a complete newbie at these new, more complex Lego sets, it took me longer than the average 12 year old to put this together. I loved it so much I bought a second one recently so I could build it again in the future. It's intricate, it's fun and it's really nice to display.
I would recommend this to a friend!
