This is a great example of what the Ideas program can offer. I qas hoping the finaldeaign qould be closer to the original submission. But it’s still a nice interpretation. It looks very impressive as a finoshed piece. But the ship itself lacks detail and could use more help.
Fun building, nice challenge but the end result is a bit disappointing. The bottle is not really looking nice to many separations/parts. The bottle parts are to small and to many, the joints are in the way for a clear view. Also not enough water bricks.
This was a fun build, but pretty tedious with tons of tiny (and clear!) pieces. It was more challenging to build than I thought it would be, but I mean that as a POSITIVE! I like the fact that it took me longer to build that I originally thought. I It looks awesome displayed close to my "Old Fishing Store". Just in caser you buy this (I highly recommend it!), let me mention this. It may save you from a little stress! **When I got to the part where I was inserting the ship into the partially built bottle, I was concerned that the ship masts were too tall and the bottle pieces wouldn't fit over it. But it was done this way on purpose to securely hold the ship inside the bottle. The bottle pieces that fit above the masts are a little different and WILL fit and will help keep the ship snug!
Well, overall and considering it IS Lego, not a bad build. But a few things bother me on the design. First is that it is a little on the small side. A little larger and maybe the ship would be more detailed. Second, far too many pieces to the bottle bottom. And they tend to fall apart easily when handled. Third, the bottle has too many seams that are connected by clear blocks. Even though they are clear all the seams tend to block seeing the ship within. Fourth, all the time spent on building the base w/compass is wasted since you can't see the compass with the bottle mounted. A nice touch though would have been a real small compass. They are cheap enough. Last, it needs more "water" pieces to fill the bottom. All that said, it is interesting and somwhat impressive. I bought two. And after the first build results I am going to update the next. I am going to find an appropriate different more detailed ship. Order more "water" pieces. Find a real compass. Raise the bottle cradle so the compass can be seen. And then try to assemble the bottle without the seam connectors obscuring the ship. Overall the subject is great, the build slightly more than the normal challenge and it is priced a little too high but on a Lego scale. Get it even just for the subject matter.
Fun build, some interesting ways of building the ship and the bottle.
Can be displayed anywhere, it doesnt even look like LEGO from 1m away, if you like how it looks, buy it, if you want something to play with, you might want to get something else, its not built to be played with.
and something that allways makes me happy, not a single sticker, everything is printed.
