Clean water, sloooow filter

I don’t know if it was worth the money for how incredibly long you have to wait for the water to filter through (1st world problems, yes). Aesthetically pleasing, but that’s about it.

PPM only went down 4

I was really excited to get this but a year later I am sad because I purchased a ppm meter and measured my tap water (37ppm) and then the filtered water (33ppm) only to find out that the life straw filter only removed 4ppm. I know lifestraw claims it leaves magnesium and potassium in the water but is that really 33ppm on my tap water? Anyways after some research I found zerowater which seams to test zero on the ppm meter in YouTube and tiktok videos. Might give this a try but have already invested in a year supply for life straw 🙃😅 we just want clean water why is it so hard? Ahaha get it hard, like hard water… sorry hope this review helps! The water does taste fine tho. Source is Portland oregon tap water.

Several Replacements - Design Still The Issue
on February 26, 2023

I bought this product a year and a half ago and have had to have three replacements on top of the original product. The first two times were that the sliding top on the dispenser lid would get stuck and eventually the track would completely break off causing the top to just be completely open. Then about 7 months in I noticed the filter leaking in the fridge when it wasn't in use. I could live with this if the water wasn't sitting in the lip of the dispenser and causing a pink-bacteria film to grow. The only way I could find to actually clean this is by shoving a q-tip into that part of the dispenser, as there is no way to take it apart to clean that specific area. I submitted a complaint and received an entirely new dispenser after that and of course, this filter does the same thing where the water leaks and sits in the dispenser lip causing bacteria to grow. On top of that, this new filter now takes three times the amount of time to dispense water. It takes a minute and a half to fill my reusable water bottle. To make matters worse the dispenser button is really hard to press and hurts your finger to use, it's not like a lever that you can pull and let sit while you fill your cup or bottle.
I bought this product because I was impressed by the filter and removal of PFAs. However, the dispenser design is such a disappointment - I wish LifeStraw would update its design. After almost two years of issues with this filter, I'm ready to move on to a different brand that isn't such a hassle and annoyance to use.

I have been pleased with the Lifestraw products. The filtering system is very easy and the results are much better tasting drinking water.

The water tastes so good that even my skeptical husband enjoys the difference.
