[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In December 2019 I purchased a 7th Gen Carbon X1 which proved to be the worst computer of any kind that I had ever purchased, full of hardware failures and software glitches. After 3 on-site visits by Lenovo technicians over the course of 10 months, Lenovo, on its own, replaced the computer and the docking station with an equivalent, brand new 8th Gen X1 and docking station -both backed by a new, full 2 year warranty.
This new machine has, so far, proven to be the equal in quality and functionality of any of the 3 Thinkpads (T41,T42,W500) I have owned over the past 20 years, all of which are still working for me in some capacity. This 8th Gen machine is quiet, rugged and light, the keyboard is what you expect from the best in the business and the new docking station is a vast improvement over the old one. Lenovo’s customer support in this instance proved to be beyond outstanding and I am very happy that they live up to, and in this instance exceed, the standard established way back when in the IBM days. My loyalty to the brand was rewarded. Good machine and great service from folks who, ultimately, made it right.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Both me and my wife are Lenovo fans, she has X1 carbon Gen 7 for >2 years. She likes it very much. Now I have my Gen 8 as a gift from my wife. It is light and runs faster than I expected. But I need to spend some time to get use to windows10 since I have been using win7 almost 10 years. Plus the camera shield is a great design!

The keyboard is comfortable and just the right size, I have small hands and often keyboards are large enough to be uncomfortable.
