The thinkpad line stands out. The performance is great, the keyboard is super comfortable and the screen/resolution is very clear. This laptop is super lightweight and it looks great with the carbon fiber casing. More than that, it meets my needs and then some for my masters program. All in all, Lenovo makes a great machine.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My greatest annoyances with this laptop:
1. Laptop consistently has connection issues to WiFi. None of my other laptops or devices in the house drop the connection, but this laptop drops the connection dozens of times per day.
2. Fingerprint reader works about 1/10 log-in attempts. Incredibly frustrating. I have reset it multiple times, re-installed the drivers, and every other solution offered, and it still doesn't work. If you google Thinkpad X1 finger print reader, you'll see that there are hundreds of people pointing out the same issue.
3. The laptop material is matte black and has a nice tactile feel. However, it also picks up smudges like crazy, the laptop constantly looks dirty.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
