That being said: I paid too much, because I got the latest processor. The slightly older processor (2019) is $700 cheaper with almost no difference in performance. I'm returning this and getting a more competitively prices model.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The X1 Carbon is great for home office use. I have it connected to a 38” Dell ultra-wide curved display via USB-C and it’s more than capable of providing the power I need for multitasking. The biometric security in the form of a fingerprint scanner that unlocks the computer is fantastic as it conveniently reduces login time. The SSD is fast, plenty of memory, and more than enough CPU power. So while it isn’t a gaming machine, it is great for work and that’s exactly what I purchased it for. The screen is very sharp, although I rarely look at it given that I’m essentially using it as a desktop computer connected to a much larger monitor. This is my third Lenovo laptop and my favorite by far. The only feature lacking, one which doesn’t concern me, is touchscreen. I had this feature in both my prior Lenovo laptops and while I do like and use it when available, I deemed it unnecessary for this purchase as my intent from the start was to use the device as a desktop computer that I could take with me on the off chance that I find myself traveling while working. I would definitely buy this laptop again.
