[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the first brand-new laptop I've ever purchased, but I've always been pleased with Lenovo... and this was a great decision. I'm very happy with the build quality, keyboard, battery life, and overall power!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Much lighter than my old Gen 2 X1, and runs more smoothly. The only complain is that the fingerprint reader does not work most of the time.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This laptop was a huge step up from my old one! The speed and responsiveness are great. There are a lot of nice little upgrades that make the overall experience awesome. Using my laptop nonstop at work gets me a solid 7 hours with heavy usage.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was looking for a workhorse laptop and chose the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 8 with Fedora. This is very fast, lightweight, sturdy, and reliable with long battery life. I love the keyboard feel and I am a long time fan of trackpoint mouse movement. Fedora 32 doesn't use the fingerprint reader (not important to me). It's too bad that the unit requires a separate RJ45 extension connector but that's fairly cheap. The case has a nice non-slippery feel and is standing up to travel better than some aluminum case laptops I've used. Fedora works quite nicely on this unit and I've modified the BIOS for virtualization and am happily running several other operating system environments.
