Maybe because I grew up in Austin, but I felt some kind of tie to them. A few years ago, work issued me a Lenovo laptop and I loved it. This purchase is my first and so far it has been great. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 8 Laptop has exceeded my expectations. It is fast for the type of work I am doing and it is a great size/weight. I look forward to using it over the next few years, and then buying a new one.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love this laptop; I have about 5 Lenovo laptops and have had 4 Microsoft surface pros. There is no comparison. Lenovo build quality, service, diagnostic software and warranty are unmatched. The screen is absolutely amazing; contrast and color depth are spectacular. Keyboard quality unmatched by any other product. I am a surgeon, software developer and system admin and this makes all my tasks a joy.

Only a few days in and I can't activate windows nor install office 365. "Activate Windows" just hangs; I've tried to reinstall Office a number of times and it just fails. Not the world's best experience. Tried all kinds of online troubleshooting tips and tools but to no avail. Likely have to restore from recovery partition and try again or return to Lenovo to get them to put a fresh disk image on it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
