[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The first time I took became a fan of Lenovo was when I working on a 3-month project to build a set tools for a major deployment. During that time, I had received my first Lenovo laptop and decided to finish up my code on it while sitting in on a meeting. As soon as I started typing, the comfort of the keyboard struck me, and I have never looked at another brand since.
The X1 Carbon Gen 8 delivers on portability, performance, battery life, versatility, and makes for a great travel companion.
For business and work, I code, work and test with virtual machines, and also travel for business and pleasure, and in my opinion the X1 Carbon just checks all of those boxes when it comes to those work horse and personal needs. When my laptop order arrived, I was especially curious about the speakers, they really do sound amazing, with Dolby Atmos included, I never knew ultra-portable laptops could have such great sounding speakers.
Better performance over the Gen 5 but still the same great ThinkPad I have come to love. I really do like how Lenovo can continue to improve with each generation but still keep the form factor the same.
If like me you customize one with LTE for mobile data connectivity, the LTE card supports more LTE bands, and I notice a much better signal and throughput with the current supported bands. Also, WIFI 6 is absolutely amazing. I am able to achieve near-gigabit speeds in the tests I have done with my WIFI 6 router at home.
If you opt for the 1440p screen, note that you will forfeit the option for the Privacy Display and unfortunately, the U.S. models still do not come with nor provide the option to add NFC.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was hesitant to get another Lenovo after having trouble with my previous ThinkPad (I've had Lenovos for YEARS and only had issues with one). I'm so glad I stuck with Lenovo. This unit is lightening fast and can handle the monster load I throw at it when working on videos and graphics like a champ. It's also super light (how do they make such a powerful unit so darned light???). The graphics are super crisp on the display and I couldn't be happier.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The laptop is light but stable. It has a fingerprint reader to sign in, something which I've never had on a computer before, but it's a nice addition (I'm not sure whether the previous models had this or not). It has great battery life, which is something I did not have the fortune of having with my last computer (which was not a Lenovo). Anyway, I am enjoying using this computer, and I hope it will last a long time. The speed of the processor is obviously quite good, as well, as it loads fast. I also am glad I got the model with 1 terabyte of hard drive storage, as that seems to suffice for my case.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice box. Very light and powerful. I run Linux (Ubuntu 20.04) and there is an occasional lockup - only downside.
