[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] very nice computer. small, very lightweight but sturdy. good backlit keyboard; good sound; good battery life (although not as good as rated); mostly very quiet - even if fan is running at high CPU it's not too loud. good fingerprint reader. Have not yet used built-in camera. excellent keyboard. all in all a very nice machine.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I haven't had it long but so far it is super fast, good audio, good streaming, and extremely light. I just need to get used to the smaller laptop keyboard layout.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the X1 Carbon with the Privacy Guard screen and it was terrible. Even with the privacy guard turned off the screen was dark and worse it had a very narrow viewing angle. It looked like I was looking at my screen through a tunnel.
I returned this laptop.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The ThinkPad X1 Carbon is just a beautiful machine. I have been using a MacBook Pro 13-inch for school and personal use, and I am so glad that I invested in a ThinkPad for my work!
Highlights: Keyboard is ergonomic and satisfying; Display is sharp, bright, and true to color; Love the integrated webcam shutter for privacy.
Trade-Offs: The X1 Carbon Gen 8 is expensive compared to its predecessor, I was tempted to get the older model; I spent my formative years using the MacBook and Windows 10 is not the same!
