Excellent laptop but not long-lasting

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This computer impressed me initially and was everything I needed, but right after the yearlong warranty ended, despite very gentle use and no physical damage, it 1) stopped recognizing my battery, and 2) randomly powers down sometimes with no warning even when plugged in. My last ThinkPad lasted 10 years; this one is having serious issues after just a year. Very displeased and probably will not invest in another Lenovo.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought it to replace a 6-year-old Carbon X1 that has been around the world with me several times and was getting pretty beat up (but still functioning!). Thanks, Lenovo, for making a great computer. This new one is light enough that I am taking it with me on a 4000-mile cross-country bike ride! :-)

First time with Lenovo brand and I'm in love

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this laptop for about a month now and I love it. I'm still not used to everything, for instance I never use the little red roller ball thing in the middle of the keyboard and I haven't attached an external mouse yet. I had to read the instructions on using the track pad because things would just happen and I didn't know why, but it was me, not the laptop. Here's what I love: super lightweight. It's about the same weight and size as my husband's ipad pro. It barely heats up with 2 hours or less of use, it does get warm if using all day. The battery life is excellent. I use the laptop 0-3 hours per day and I usually plug it in once per week. Setup was very easy. Waking up happens in under a minute. The fingerprint reader would only work about half the time and then I googled it and people suggest lightly licking your finger first. Even though it's kind've gross, especially in this day of COVID, it does work 100% of the time now. Networking to my other workstations at home was very easy and setting up remote desktop was also very easy. The backlight for the keyboard is nice. The only thing that I was slightly disappointed about is the inability to create a number pad out of the 789uiojkl keys. I thought this functionality existed in all lenovo laptops, but it turns out it's only certain models and this model isn't one of them.

Out of the box Linux experience was so smooth as to be anticlimactic. It asked for a login name and password, and then updated itself. That was it. It just works.
I still may install Ubuntu over Fedora because it's easier for non-experts to search for Ubuntu specific answers, but Fedora setup and operation is so smooth I may stick with it.
