Screen broke after 1 year of regular school use

I bought this laptop from Lenovo.com in the summer of 2020 to use for school. It has a good keyboard, and the fingerprint reader and face sign-in are great features for a portable laptop.
However, I had a number of serious issues with the laptop. First, with i5 and 4K UHD screen, the laptop routinely ran out of charge in just 2 hours of use web browsing and editing documents at low brightness. This is unacceptable for a laptop marketed with up to 19.5 hours of battery life. It also ran uncomfortably hot even under light loads, but that is to be expected for an ultralight device.
After just 1 year of regular use (just outside of warranty) with good care and cleaning, the screen failed. As the photos show it displays randomly colored vertical stripes, flickers strongly, and some portions of the screen even turn off entirely. It now freezes within seconds of turning on and is completely unusable. I cannot stress enough: DON'T BUY THE LAPTOP, especially not with the 4k screen.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Everything is almost perfect for my personal use. The screen is sharp and accurate, the keyboard is a work of art and I too will produce art with it, there are many inputs which is really great. The weight and durability of this machine is just out of this world when you think about its components absolute technological wonder. One thing that's not so great is its webcam as it goes by business machine and sometimes I accidentally turnoff the machine due to its unorthodox placement of its power button. The track point too is such a convenience. Thus I rate it 4.4 out of 5
I've used many laptops over the years and this is absolutely the best device I've had and woudl highly recommend it. I was originally concerned with the screen size, but he clarity of the screen more than makes up for it, plus the smaller size makes it very suitable for use in flight. It is the laptop I've been seeking for ages.
The hard drive size is great as i have years of data and is readily accessible in a very quick fashion. It is very easy to review large amounts of data should the need occur, including those pesky multi-meg excel spreadsheets some are found of sending around.
Finally, the weight of this product about the same as a tablet and a welcome replacement to carry around. I cannot recommend this highly enough and have already made it a standard device in the company for those needing large capacity, fast systems.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Laptop is quite nice, light and powerful. It should be able to last throughout college and then some. My two complaints is the chin bezel and the 720p camera. Would've been awesome to have a little bit more screen from that spot and a 1080p camera but that said it's an extremely light complaint especially the camera since wanting thinning bezels have caused the sensors to shrink so self defeating issues. Windows Hello is awesome and the build quality is great, love the carbon fiver weave.
The transition from my old system was amazingly easy. Switched all my data and programs in an afternoon. Working through learning some of the nuances associated with the new system is ongoing but not difficult.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Extremely light, clean look and good performance. A quiet machine that satisfies my need to work in public space.
