Excellent hood for large range

This hood draws well even when using a Wolf range with a grill. The hood is very loud at the highest setting, but a variable speed control allows you to set the draw at the lowest effective level. The two level lights illuminate the range top well. Simple clean design esthetic.
I would recommend this to a friend!

All exposed surfaces are nicely finished. No sharp edges, and I appreciate the rounded profile that spreads the force when I bump my head on it. The blower very effectively captures the smoke and odor from stir-frying at 22,000 BTUs. As expected, there is a lot of air noise at 600 cfm as the air rushes through the baffles and into the internal blower. At low speed, the predominant noise is a hum (almost a buzz) from the variable-frequency motor and controller. Much quieter than at high speed, but still annoying over time, say when simmering a soup.
The controls are the weakest point. A three-position rocker switch for the lights would make a lot more sense than a three position knob that I often twist the wrong direction. Also, the low setting is pretty much useless with LED lights because they flicker very perceptibly. Something more sophisticated than a diode to chop out half of the AC cycle would be appreciated. Both the light and fan knobs feel a little cheap.
Customer service was very responsive when I had questions.

You can use LED's but as you have found out, they do not always operate correctly and we cannot guarantee the life of the bulb. I was looking for a vent hood that would push air 25 feet down and out of the house. This product definitely does that at 600 cfm. It has the restaurant style filter system that makes it great for cleaning with a variable speed blower.
The only issue I see is that Broan need to put some kind of damper where the fan mounts to stop the humming noise it makes at low speed. It stops if you push on the motor just right.
Other than that it is a great product.

Motor lasted only 4 years, too noisy, NOT RECOMMNDED

The motor life is extremely poor - Lasted only 4 years ! .Replacement motor costs almost half the price of the whole unit . In my old house I have a much very inexpensive model, in which the motor is almost 2 decades old !!! Too noisy
Baffle filters are a mess to clean up kitchen grease. Does not easily go away - poor design in my opinion.
Look for some thing else - Absolutely NOT recommended
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We do offer models that use an external or in-line blower if noise is an issue. The E64E36SS would be the same model with the exterior or in-line blower option sold separately. This unit has a very strong and effective blower.
Although the packaging appeared solid, there was a noticeable "ding" in the hood. NO worries though, a replacement unit came quickly with no issues. It definitely enhanced our kitchens appeal! If I could change one thing about this unit, I would have had it manufactured slightly different so that the perimeter grommets used in fastening the hood together didn't shadow the face of the unit. You can barely see it, but if you get real close to the unit you can see the shadow of the grommets below. The light bulbs were also a chore to put in place. If you experience an issue with the bulbs, keep at it...you'll get them in eventually.

If you start the fan high enough to pull odors out right when you begin cooking, the house will not smell like food. I used to enter the house and know what was for dinner, not anymore!! Fan is loud at higher settings but I never use it full blast except for when something is burning

The hood is streamlined and the vent is very powerful. The only thing that is disappointing is that when the lights are on the lowest setting they flicker so I always have to have them turned brighter even if I don’t need it brighter.
