Louder than specified. Professional installation

We have a new Broan 36 inch hood vent model EW4836SS. We use our cell phone Apps and the lowest fan speed is 53db. It is 60db at medium and 63-64 at highest. This is far above the rating mentioned in all the documents. 63db is 10 Sones. It is a beautiful device, but very disappointing in noise level.

We appreciate your feedback on the EW4836SS range hood. This range hood is rated at 1.5 sones on the low setting, 2.8 sones on the medium setting, and 7.5 sones on the high setting. This hood should be using 7" round ducting all the way to the outside of the home. The shorter and straighter the duct work the better the performance. If there is an elbow used anywhere in the duct run, there should be at least 2" of straight ducting before or after any elbow. If any of the above differ than from what is described, it can affect the sound and performance of your range hood. We would be happy to go over the installation with you at 800-637-1453.
