Need to re-learn how to cook with gas

This gas stove is extremely hot. My pans, Cuisinart Stainless Steel, are great pans and I had no problems with them until the purchase of this stove. The handles get too hot to use without hot pads. The oven is also hotter than my electric range was, and it heats up the kitchen. I'm not sure if this is just because it's a gas range, or because something is not calibrated properly. I also have a problem with the layout of the burners. Both very high-powered, large burners are at the front of the stove, and the medium and small sizes are at the back. I would prefer to have the medium burner at the front because I am fairly short (not quite 5-ft) and it would be easier to cook at my preferred temperature (not so high) if the burner were closer. In talking with others who have gas ranges, this is a common issue for many of us. I've had the stove 3 months and the oven light has already been replaced twice, which seems odd to me. We bought the range to match the refrigerator, purchased 6 months earlier, not realizing that the model would be discontinued. This was the only stove I could find to match when we updated the kitchen in our newly purchased home. Learning to cook with gas is different, but I like many things about it. However, I was spoiled with a ceramic top range with respect to clean up. The gas range is much more difficult to keep clean.

I am so glad with my new 5 burner range, having an extra burner allows me to cook fast and no doubt we make a good decision when we bought this range.

I've had my stove about a month now. Cooked a Thanksgiving dinner without a hitch! As my previous stove was about 30 years old, this seems like a whole new world to me. I am still experimenting with the convection feature, I don't really see a big difference except my baking is improved--able to control it much better! My only negative so far is I wish the "Power" burners were the back burners as opposed to the front ones. I tend to simmer/saute at the front burners. Overall, so far, I'm loving it though.
Pros: Performance, easy to use
