I've posted before about this, but I'm still annoyed that the filters are not recyclable. We break them open and compost the charcoal (not an easy task), but the plastic has to be discarded. Given that most people like me who compost are environmentally motivated, this is a huge downside to the Foodcycler. I received it as a gift and despite having solar panels to cover the electricity, I find the machine disappointing.
The cycler is smaller than I imagined, but works well. Mostly a days worth of scraps fits fine, and I run it at night. We eat a lot of fruit and vegetables. I compost all my waste for my garden, and make far less trips to the garden compost pile. The food from the recycler blends well with the garden leaves and chippings. I add a little organic minerals, and in 3 weeks have the best soil to add to my vegetable garden. The compost from the cycler never smells bad. It has reduced the draw of animals to my garden becase it mixes so well with garden. I also feel like I'm doing my part to reduce greenhouse gas. Thank you.

I bought my food cycler almost 3 years ago this thing is awesome I’ve made lots of compost put it in my yard and it has improved significantly and I like the fact that you can pretty much put anything in here except for oily’s things and like jellies jams syrup whatever and hard bones but this thing is great cuts down on trash and it’s helping the environment
We have several Vitamix Appliances/ One of them is our food recycler. We were sad when we need new filters. After contacting Vitamix, and explained our problem, they shipped out the filters the next day. They had not even setup the filters in their online store. Great people to work with.

The Foodcycler does a wonderful job! I create a lot of compostable making my daily green drinks in my Vitamix. I have an apartment and have no way to compost outside. This is a perfect solution!

Filters seem to be a scam

Recycler works well enough. I don't overload it and don't fill it with all of one type of waste product as it tends to gum up the machine. However, there are two major downsides: 1) the filter required changing after 2 weeks of use (!) and 2) the filters are expensive and NOT reusable/recyclable. How insane in 2024 that they don't recycle or, even better, make the filters reusable! I am a vegetarian and have not put meat or cheese or anything that would force the filters to need changing in two weeks (persimmons and egg shells and coffee grounds mainly). Either I received a defective machine or the filter replacement scam is real.
