Not holding up like our previous set

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The knives in this set do not seem to be holding up as well as our previous set (which we had for years). Also, the self sharpening makes the knife blades uneven/chips in the blade. Even with the recommended care/cleaning, these knives seem to be corroding and have rust spots.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What a good value!

I've had Henckels Classic knives for more than 20 years. They are terrific. They have made many great meals. This set has every knife you could - and a built-in sharpening system. It comes with the two most prep-worthy knives, an 8-inch chef's knife and a 7-inch santoku. There is probably no vegetable, protein or fruit that these two knives couldn't make easy work of. Plus it has a good selection of specialty and everyday prep knives, and steak knives for the table. The built-in sharpen takes no extra effort. Just wash and dry your knives (I recommend by hand so they always look like new) and return them to their slot and you're done. Ready to go when you need them again.
These are forged knives made of quality steel. They have a triple riveted handle, a comfortable integrated bolster. Even if they aren't made in Germany, the steel is, and their quality is unquestionable.

Nice set, could be better!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The block is nice and self sharpening is convenient. The knife handles have some scratches and scuff marks and with the name/reputation we were surprised about the craftsmanship.

Close But No Cigar

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I decided to upgrade my knife block that I had used for years. I knew Henckels was a reputable name and invested in this beautiful 20-piece self-sharpening block. I would have l given 5 stars, however there was no insert that identified which knife went where…I knew a few, of course, but needed assistance. I searched the Internet and couldn’t locate a chart that included the variety I had…not even close. I even searched for what a particular knife would look like, searching the block slot name…to no avail. I do hope they are in the correct slot so that I’m using them per their intended design.

My mom stabbed her thumb

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My mother took off the plastic safety tip and barely touched the point of the knife and she started bleeding! SO SHARP!! Love it. I tried cutting a tomato with a butter knife yesterday because I hadn’t received my knives yet, it was terrible. These will DEFINITELY get the job done! The self-sharpening feature is glorious. The only part I don’t like is that the block itself is 15 inches long, which takes up quite a bit of counter space, but otherwise this is fantastic. Pretty sure this thing will last through the zombie apocalypse, it’s heavy duty. Bring on gun control, I have deadly knives.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Awesome knives. I love the self sharpening block. They are super sharp right out of the box. Well made they seem too. Haven’t use them yet. The steak knives I’m not too fond of. But I didn’t buy this set for the steak knives. They were an added bonus. I have other steak knives that I prefer.

Kind of disappointed with the weight of every knife except for the Chef knife which is perfect. Even the 8 dinner knives seem very lightweight. Was hoping for something more substantial. In addition, the block to hold the knives is enormous. Takes up way too much counter space. Wife not too happy. May need to return. Still debating this before using.
