beatiful presentation

This is a great set of knives, in a beautiful presentation, at an incredible value. These japanese knives are unique in that they work as nicely for a left handed person as they do for a right handed person.

Perfect set and with two of the most used knives in the kitchen, I use the santoku knife daily and the paring knife as well. This line fits snuggly in my hand and I can work quickly and fatigue free. The FC61 steel is very sharp and due to the double ice-hardening process, extremely durable. This means these knives are going to stay sharper longer and last for years to come. I love the easel block for the display and for the hygine factor.

Great way to display beautiful knives

These knives are gorgeous and it would be a shame to put them in a normal knife block that would hide the beautiful blades of these knives. It also makes it really easy to see and grab what knife I need quickly. The 9" bread knife makes quick work of large loaves and I love that it includes both a chef's knife and santoku so that I have the choice.

Best of both worlds. Great hardness (61 on scale) with hand-honed Seki, Japan razor-like sharpness. the handles must be felt. Fits in palm perfectly or pinch down. Hard to beat.

great blades on display

I love the thought behind this collection. I love the Japanese blades combined with the Western style handles. Im not a fan of the D shaped handle so before this I stayed away from Japanese cutlery. The handle material is very smooth and comfortable in my hand. The steel that is used goes through a double hardening process producing a very thin yet resilient blade. The Japanese craftsmanship is evident in the details especially the Katana style watermarking near the blade edge. The easel design storage unit has a strong magnet that gives me confidence in the safety of storing the knives out but is also easy to remove. It puts them on display like the works of art they are.

Amazing Knife Set

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This set looks great on my counter. The knives feel goof in my hand. They are not too heavy. They cut through veggies and meat with ease. I love these knives.

This set of knives has it all. Great assortment, paring, utility, two different sized chef's knives, plus a large santoku, a bread knife as well as a slicer. Additionally, top quality kitchen shears, a Japanese honing steel and all displayed beautifully on a bamboo easel.
Made is Seki Japan, nice combination of Asian and Western features. Acute angle, ranging between 9.5 and 12 degrees depending on the style. FC61 steel is hard and resilient. Easy to maintain and sharpen. The western style handle is comfortable and familiar in feel. The half bolster allows for use of the full length of the blade, as well as easy sharpening with no bolster interference. Nice combination of the best of Western and Asian features.
