this is my everything pan..I braise, saute, fry and sear in it. I love the shape and the slightly upswung handles make it so easy to maneuver. The lid is nice and heavy when I want to braise it fits tightly and the sides are a perfect depth.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Domed shaped top is good size to make a large one pot meal. Also like the spikes inside that keeps all the flavor in the pot. Dishwasher Safe is a real plus, but honestly cleans up easily with hand washing.

Lots of seering/braising space. Easier to move larger handles. Beautiful enameled deep blue top and bottom. Nobs beneath lid continually moisturize food when covered.

Great for cooking and presenting

I love using this pot because it has a very wide bottom so that I can brown a lot of meat all at the same time and the fact that it is cast iron, the pot heats evenly and retains heat for a long time. Unlike other cast iron, this is enameled so that it is easy to clean without a lot of extra special care. The lid also makes it so that if I ever put this in the oven, the condensation that collects on the lid is evenly distributed due to nubs.

I think this braiser in any color, but this deep blue in particular, is one the most brilliant pieces in the Staub collection. The shape of the braiser - with the cast iron domed lid - and the side handles makes for such an elegant presentation of even the most humblest foods. If you, like me, make a fair amount of one pot, stew-y, curry-ie, simmer-y vegetables and meats, or elevated rice dishes, then this is a cooking vessel for you.
It will easily become a go to pot. And even without the lid, the bottom becomes a great roaster, or round baker. So many uses.
For me, a great deal of the enjoyment is the rich blue color. It comes from a special Majolica process that involves 3 layers of enamel. I know all their products perform at the highest standards, and that they last a lifetime, but its the colors that make Staub stand apart.

Great Braiser pan. Good flat surface for browning, deep sides for sauteing and braising, the lid is solid and stays put and the flared handles make it easy to lift and move. One of my favorite pans!

Solid, great colour piece. Enameled inside and out so it stays pretty and cleans easily. semi-deep to control splatter and li'l spikes keep moisture continually circulating.
