I love this size and I love this shape especially for roasting chickens or baking a boule of sourdough bread. You have enough room to add all of your vegetables in with the chicken, which is a huge plus. For baking bread the cast iron is perfect because it conducts heat so well, and retains the heat. The spikes under the lid collect moisture and self-baste whatever dish you are baking or roasting in the oven, all while it is cooking, so almost like you have an extra hand! You get to take all the credit though! Bread does come out perfect when baked in a staub and your chickens will come out juicy and golden brown.

You can sear meat, simmer a sauce, make a stew, roast vegetables, fry chicken, boil potatoes, bake a dessert, and everything in between! The heat capability of this pan is phenomenal. It heats up quickly, evenly, and retains heat all the way through the cooking process. The cocotte has self-basting spikes on the interior of the lid which collect and return all moisture back into dish - keeping your dish moist and the flavor base intact. The pan can be used on any cooking surface and is temperature safe up to 500F.

A Chicken pot!

This oval cocotte fits a chicken or two. Beautiful cherry color, it brighten up my kitchen because colorful enamel outside adds flare to your kitchen and table.
Staub pots and pan saves another dish, it can serve your delicious food from the oven straight to your table. It is a recommendation to use a trivet, either wood magnetic trivet or cast iron to protect table or counter from direct heat.
The innovative lid features tiny spikes on the interior continually release condensed liquid back onto the food, yielding moist, flavorful results. It is durable it is perfect for day-to-day use. This cast iron requires no seasoning and ready to use for daily cooking.

Cheery, cherry color and beautifully crafted. Big pot for big meals.
All the features that you expect from Staub. Perfect even heating and heat retention. Excellent for browning and searing on high heat! I like to use this pot for lamb and veal shanks..Great release as a result of the innovative black matte interior. I often use a damp cloth to clean!! beautiful pot!

I use this all the time when cooking whole chickens and pot roasts. Also like it because it's oven safe so i have an option for stovetop cooking or in the oven. Serve right from this beautiful Cocotte.

Staub has the ability to anticipate what a cook wants. The oval shape offers a terrific interior space to give room all around a long roast or a whole bird. The larger size will offer ample space for a larger roast and the root veggies that could surround that roast beautifully.

Ample-sized cast iron heats evenly on any cooktop. Signature Cherry-red colour stands out. Has the Staub nobbies 'neath lid for ultimate moisture retention/disbursement.
