This Staub coq au vin does it all and rarely leaves our stove top. The heat capability of the pan is amazing - heats up quickly and evenly, also stays hot for hours. It has self-basting spikes on the interior of the lid which collect and return all moisture back into dish - nothing dries out and the food stays moist. So versatile - I can fry burgers in the pan, the searing capability of the pan is amazing, but our favorite dish to make is a roasted chicken, perfection.

Matte black is my favortie color, I have a few colors in other Staub pieces that I like to mix with the black. It looks so rustic to me and I like to keep it out on the stove! My daughter bought me this for Mother's Day one year and it has quickly become one of my favorite cocottes. I do make coq au vin it too! It is the perfect size for family gatherings be it at the holidays or your Sunday dinner. The self-basting lid produces moist and tender results for what could be not so moist and tender if left to cook without basting. The dark enamel interior cleans up so easily, even after long braises in the oven or on top of the stove. I use this cocotte for many dishes and take it directly from the oven/stove to the table. It makes such a great presentation!

Interior looks awful...

I bought this about 3 weeks ago, have made beef stew once, followed included directions on cooking & cleaning and it look awful...I didn't expect it to look so bad after one use...

Every kitchen needs a piece of Staub

Some longer cut of meat or whole chicken fit better in this oval shape. But still great for soups and chilis since the cast iron heats up evenly even on a round burner. Beautiful color and the rooster knob is an added bonus.

Another beautifully versatile piece from Staub. Ideal for any large recipe, this cast iron will cook anything to perfection. The grenadine adds a stunning pop of color to the dinner table and the double handles make it easy to transfer from stove to oven to tabletop. Plus, the cute rooster knob will have you and everyone adoring this piece even more!

The dark blue Staub pieces line the shelves of my pantry and I love using this coq au vin for those special occasion dishes. It is ideal for so many recipes and I like showing off the adorable rooster knob on top!
