Simple camera that's easy to

Simple camera that's easy to set up
This Lorex camera was a breeze to install and configure. It literally took me less than 5 minutes to download the app to my Android phone, create an account, and get connected. I have it installed in my garage, and mounting it to the wall was also very easy. The magnetic mount made it easy, I just screwed the provided metal plate to the wall and the camera sticks to it magnetically quite well.
The app is easy to use and gives you good control over the settings. The require permissions are no more than what is reasonably required to make it all work. The app reviews on the Google Play store are outdated or uninformed, do not rely on those to make your decision.
Image quality is nice and sharp, and the frame rate is good and lag is minimal. Overall a very nice IP camera at a nice price.

Excellent home WiFi camera at a great price
The Lorex Indoor WiFi Network Security Camera is an excellent camera from many perspectives.
Design and Look-This camera has a great modern look and is small enough to place almost anywhere.
Video Resolution and Quality-The 1080p resolution provides great quality video where every detail is shown including faces even when zooming the screen.
Night Vision-The night vision is very clear with faces easy to make out.
Field of view-Due to the wide angle lens, the field of view is really good since you can see the whole room instead of just part of it. This alleviates the need to be able to pan. You can also zoom within the image to get closeups if items or people in the image.
The included SD card is nice. It is adequate since the recordings write over the oldest ones so the card does not get full and lose recordings or events.
Person Detection-This feature works well except it does sometimes pick up my dog as a person.
Overall this is an excellent purchase if you want a stand-alone camera that dies not require a DVR or cables except a power cord.

Couldn't get it to function

Couldn't get it to function correctly
I have no prior experience with home security cameras so dont have anything to compare the Lorex home security camera to. However for me, it has limited usefulness.
There isnt anything wrong with camera itself, except that it gets very hot. It has a wide field of view and can be tilted so as to focus on a precise location. It has audio, motion detection, person detection (to eliminate non-person activity) and in theory can record events for playback. It also comes with an SD card.
It took a couple of hours to set it up because of WiFi connectivity issues. The on line manual states that version iOS 9.3 or later is required and I have an iphone 6 which may account for some of the problems I encountered.
Everywhere I wanted to place it was out of WiFi range. There is a nice feature in the software that will determine WiFi strength to help with placement. The maximum distance I could put it from the router was 12 feet. I initially aimed it at the front door in the default mode of motion detection on/Person detection off. Because it has a wide field of view, every time someone in the house walked into the adjacent room, my phone would bing and an event would be recorded. By the end of the day I had over 100 events to delete.
I then put it in a window and set it to motion detection on/person detection on, hoping I could see who was at the front door. In that mode it should only alert my phone when a person enters its field of view. It did a good job of eliminating non-persons but it sometimes didn't recognize a person. It alerted my phone about 90% of the time when I had someone walk by it to test it. Detection events on my phone show a still shot of a distorted, unrecognizable person just as they trigger the camera. I should be able to click on the event and see a recording of the full event, but I get a Play Error every time. Also, when using the app I constantly get an alert that I'm using cellular data when my phone shows I'm connected to WiFi.
The camera might be useful if no one was in the house. I could set the motion detector and sound on and get an alert on my phone if someone entered or exited the front door. Someone who has better WiFi range could use it to monitor for motion or sound in an area that isnt supposed to have any motion. Someone with iOS 9.3 or later might be able to record a video of person events. Hopefully the person would be more recognizable in video than in a still shot.

Decent camera We are building

Decent camera
We are building a "He Shed" for my husband. Since it will have all of his tools and power tools in it, we wanted to make sure that we could keep an eye on it. This Lorex HD Wi-Fi Camera seemed to be the perfect thing for the job.
We have a Lorex home security camera system that we haven't been overly enamored with. Even so, we thought that this camera would be a good choice so that we wouldn't have to download another new app for another smart home product. This Lorex camera uses the Lorex Home app and our home security system uses the Lorex Cirrus app. So we wound up having to download another app anyways.
Once the app was downloaded, set up was super easy. The camera connected faster than any of my other smart home devices. The picture quality is passable but the picture and audio have about a 5 second delay. It isn't too bad compared to other cameras we have.
The camera has motion detection and person detection and will send notifications to you. You can set up a pretty intricate activation area. This camera also has 2-way communication and night vision. It comes with a 16GB memory card.
One issue that I do have with this camera is that there isn't a battery backup. If someone were to enter your premises when there was no power, the camera would not issue a warning or it could simply be unplugged to avoid being recorded.
Overall, I'd say that this is an ok camera. There are better choices with better recording quality but for the price, this is a pretty decent entry level camera.

Great product. Image quality is perfect and as was expected. Analytics work well and are precice with almost no false alerts. Infrared works well indoors but not so well outdoors due to distance. However you can overcome this by just shutting night vision off. The camera detects just as well in normal mode at night as in the day. The application is extremely user friendly with plenty of options. Everything can be controlled remotely which is very handy, no base required which i love. Wish this camera would be rated for outdoors. If you try this out you wont be dissapointed.

Eyes In The Sky... Well Just on The Pup
I absolutely love my Lorex camera and the simplicity of it all. It took all of 2-3 minutes to open it up and set it up.
Best features are how slim it is, the magnetic plate to secure it to the wall, the crisp imaging, and two way audio.
In comparison to my previous camera this one wont be bulky and annoying while it sits neatly on a shelf.
Biggest win is that the camera has a micro SD slot so that I dont have to subscribe to a cloud company or of forgetting my password to access them.
I work a normal daytime job so being able to keep an eye on my little guy is very important to me. Hes a little annoyed obviously... but Im glad I can check in on him anytime I want.
