For being a 1080 pixel

For being a 1080 pixel it?s really not that bad. The sound is perfectly clear there?s a slight delay in movement when you look on your phone while sitting on front of the camera but it?s not bad. I?m able to talk back-and-forth with my daughter at home. Keep an eye on the dogs when no one is there. For the price you really can?t beat it. The picture quality is great. The only downside is the night vision at a distance it?s hard to make out a face with light but you can obviously tell the skin color, male or female body and such. Over all I?m glad I bought these for me home. Easy to set up and navigate through the app

Perfect Video Camera The Lorex

Perfect Video Camera
The Lorex Indoor Wi-Fi Security Camera is a small, simple, and very good-looking security camera, and has an amazing number of features.
Set-up is very simple and quick, I downloaded the Lorex app to my cell phone and a tablet, plugged in the Lorex security camera, pressed the + icon in the Lorex app, and it literally took a couple of seconds and we had video.
Video resolution is remarkable. Once I had the Lorex Indoor Security Camera set-up, I placed the camera on our inside front window ledge, facing our walkway to the front door, our carport, and part of the street out front. With the camera, sitting on the window ledge, monitoring through the window and the window screen, the camera was extremely sensitive to movement and the video was amazingly clear. Our front window is not in the direct sun light, the image lighting remains stable, and the temperature will not approach the max camera temperature.
The Lorex Security Camera is motion activated and will send a notification to your cell phone or tablet when it activates. You can open the app at any time and start monitoring live video and recording that video. When the Lorex Security Camera activates, to a motion, it will store a video of the action for a period and when there is no activity for a set amount of time the camera will turn off. There are many adjustments that can be made, in the app, for tweaking to your personal needs/situations.
The camera has sensitivity settings from 1-6, on 3 the camera was picking up every car that past in front of our home and was sending a notification to my phone. I had to turn the sensitivity down to 2 and this stopped the Lorex Security Camera from turning on every time a car passed by. With this setting our coverage was from our front door to the sidewalk out by the street.
The full monitoring area is very big, you can adjust this very easy by entering into the set up and using your finger to highlight the grid area you prefer to have coverage and saving it, very nice feature. The two-way audio is surprisingly clear and a nice feature.
For the price point this is a remarkable Security Camera with a lot of versatility.

Excellent choice for budget conscious security
The Lorex indoor Wi-Fi camera works so much better than its size and price point might suggest. This camera is also ridiculously easy to setup and use, even for those who struggle with newer technologies. Lorex went as far as preinstalling the 16 GB microSD card so it is literally a plug in and play setup. On top of that, the included power adapter has a 5-foot-long cord which I am very grateful for. My initial setup took me less than 10 minutes to complete including my one hiccup (more on that later). The Lorex app even holds your hand throughout the entire setup process making it next to impossible to make a mistake. This is the entire setup process: 1. Select a location for the camera 2. Plug in the power adapter 3. Download the free Lorex app and create an account (also free) 4. Add the camera to your account by scanning the QR code printed on the back of the camera using your phones camera 5. Add the camera to your Wi-Fi network 6. Use your new camera The one hiccup I encountered setting up the camera was adding it to my Wi-Fi network. During the pairing process, you must keep your phone within a foot of the camera which I was unaware of. However, this was entirely my mistake because this is mentioned in the Quick Start Guide under Troubleshooting for people like me who dont read the instructions until they have a problem. Since my initial setup, the camera has not given me a single issue.
There are too many positives for me to cover of all them so Ill limit myself to the ones that impressed me the most. - The combination of a wide-angle lens and 1080p resolution means you have a great field-of-view and you can actually tell what is going on - The live view feature has incredibly low latency; there is only about a one second delay. - The app connects to the camera quickly regardless of how your phone is connected to the internet. The time from opening the app to viewing a live feed is a matter of seconds. I did not experience any performance difference between being on the same Wi-Fi network as the camera, a completely different one, or even using my cell network. - The push notifications for motion detection are delivered very quickly. My phone would go off within 10 seconds of walking through the cameras field of view. - The app is very intuitive to use and easily allows you to adjust any setting you desire. It will even keep track of any triggering event for you to review even if you have notifications turned off. - You can schedule when you want to be notified of motion alerts. You can select a time window, or you can enable Geofencing so that notifications are turned on the moment you leave your house and turned off once you return. The only downside of this option is you have to allow the app access to your location at all times in order for this feature to work. I would have liked it if the time window option was adjustable based on the day of the week. Unfortunately, it is not but that is not an issue if you enable location-based alerts.

Good quality, weak Alexa support

Good quality, weak Alexa support and lorex softwar
The camera has excellent video quality and night time clarity. Setup is a breeze but you must create and register for Lorex account. The camera ships with a pre installed 16gb Micro SD card, which is nice to get started. WiFi connection is pretty strong with google home link up very quick, but to date unable to get Alexa to find the camera.
I dislike that mounting via the camera magnetic base involves screwing into your Location surfaces to mount the metal plate. The lorex software app is basic and designed for small screens like your phone but not for larger screens like iPads, etc...

Budget Cam with lots of

Budget Cam with lots of features
The first thing you're going to notice on this camera is how it resembles the nest cam but is not. That being said, this camera was very easy to set up. Like most of the smart equipment nowadays requires the creation of an account with the respective brand. Once that is done scan the barcode in the back and you're set. The app was very simple to use with minimal navigations and everything within the home screen . The camera is well made and is very light.
it records in 1080P and the images look decent but, in my opinion for this camera being at 1080 it should look much better. The images dont look as sharp as other 1080p cameras I have and look kind of washed, and when you zoom in they get ever worse. Something I also notice while using the live feed on the app it has a noticeable delay. This camera records clips and is also capable of taking pictures and night vision was actually pretty good. I do like the fact that you can store events right on the camera using an SDCard and a 16GB is included. One thing that really failed was the camera speaker, it is not very loud and people will have trouble hearing you, now the mic was much better. I was able to hear the sound on my phone with no issues.
One of my favorite features was the ability to link the camera with the Google Home, I was able to see the live videos on my google home hubs and it worked flawlessly. That setup was simple and to bring up the camera on your google display just say Google show me (the room the camera is in). You can also use this same feature with Alexa. In the Lorex home app you can manage all the cameras and adjust the alerts, storage but you cannot change the video settings. Overall this camera for the price and all the features it comes with it is a very good budget security camera. In the box you get the camera, mounting kit, USB cable, power brick and manuals.

Couldn't get it to function

Couldn't get it to function correctly
I have no prior experience with home security cameras so dont have anything to compare the Lorex home security camera to. However for me, it has limited usefulness.
There isnt anything wrong with camera itself, except that it gets very hot. It has a wide field of view and can be tilted so as to focus on a precise location. It has audio, motion detection, person detection (to eliminate non-person activity) and in theory can record events for playback. It also comes with an SD card.
It took a couple of hours to set it up because of WiFi connectivity issues. The on line manual states that version iOS 9.3 or later is required and I have an iphone 6 which may account for some of the problems I encountered.
Everywhere I wanted to place it was out of WiFi range. There is a nice feature in the software that will determine WiFi strength to help with placement. The maximum distance I could put it from the router was 12 feet. I initially aimed it at the front door in the default mode of motion detection on/Person detection off. Because it has a wide field of view, every time someone in the house walked into the adjacent room, my phone would bing and an event would be recorded. By the end of the day I had over 100 events to delete.
I then put it in a window and set it to motion detection on/person detection on, hoping I could see who was at the front door. In that mode it should only alert my phone when a person enters its field of view. It did a good job of eliminating non-persons but it sometimes didn't recognize a person. It alerted my phone about 90% of the time when I had someone walk by it to test it. Detection events on my phone show a still shot of a distorted, unrecognizable person just as they trigger the camera. I should be able to click on the event and see a recording of the full event, but I get a Play Error every time. Also, when using the app I constantly get an alert that I'm using cellular data when my phone shows I'm connected to WiFi.
The camera might be useful if no one was in the house. I could set the motion detector and sound on and get an alert on my phone if someone entered or exited the front door. Someone who has better WiFi range could use it to monitor for motion or sound in an area that isnt supposed to have any motion. Someone with iOS 9.3 or later might be able to record a video of person events. Hopefully the person would be more recognizable in video than in a still shot.

Great price on a solid

Great price on a solid security camera.
I am very happy with my Lorex - Indoor 1080p Wi-Fi Network Security Camera. The product comes with everything you need in the box and the on-line setup and app worked first time out! I was able to register the device, do a firmware update and connect to my Wi-Fi without any issues. I was able to go from box to fully functioning in about 15 minutes! The device offers high definition, wide-angle video that you can view in real time in the app AND record to an internal (provided) memory card that is expandable. This is great because it means you don't have to buy an expensive monitoring service in order to use the camera. The body is made out of high impact plastic and can be mounted in a variety of ways. All of the hardware you need for that is included. You also get two vinyl stickers for your windows to warn the bad guys that you have video surveillance deployed.
You should be aware of a couple of things - the provided power cable is generous but still limits how far you can place the camera from an outlet. Also, if you enable the motion auto-detect capability the app can flood your phone with notifications if anything moves. This can be easily disabled but be aware that the default is to have it on. Overall the folks at Lorex have created a very good security solution at an excellent price.
